THE USER'S CHEESE GUIDE, Version 1!!!!!

Post by UserUnfriendly »

Its done!!! version one of my cheese guide, listing all the cheese i know is done and edited....

this took me a week, and boy was it hard to write...now no single guide can obviously cover every single cheese known in the game, duh!!! but a need for the guide is pretty obvious, and Michel of the forgotten wars forum suggested i write it..so i did...remember, this is a work that should be updated as new cheese is invented or simply remembered or rediscovered, and if you know of a cheese that you invented but did not get the credit for, please feel free to private message me, and once i get enough input i shall release version 2...

oh yeah, if xyx, sabre and others want to post this guide on their bg2 sites, please email me, and i will thus be able to notify them when i release new versions....

please enjoy.... :D ;) :p

Nice work. :)

Ever thought of submitting it to http://www.gamefaqs.com or some other BG 2 sites? Would do a lot of good for would-be cheese users and converts-to-be! :D

well, it looks like they are seriously into giving people credit, and i prefer to wait until at least version 3, 4 after some people tell me they came up with this one...

i actually do have sources for most of the cheese i wrote, however as blucher told me when i attributed the ugly stick cheese, he actually read about the ugly stick in another forum...so i can only credit my cheese, and i want people who came up with the stuff to pm me, or simply post so i can then give them the proper credit, and not simply because i read it in their post....

sigh...

what do you guys think so far, style, organization, content...etc,.... :( :o

The cheese with multi images who shapecange into mindflayer, you wrote they could kill just aboute anyone, I wondered if you cast alot of protection spells on them, maybe they can kill the nasty thief who apperes if you attack one of the important shadowthiefs, I'm not sure that have written this understandeble, but I'm pretty sure you get my idea..... I Havn't tryed it out yet, but do you think it would work???

PS. That chesse guide is brilliant...... THANK YOU User

BLUSH!!!!...

aaaawwwww....

nae'run, you are talking about arkanis gath, the almost unkillable shadow thief who appears if you try to kill a crucial plot character out of sequence in the going to asylum quest in chapter 2, if you try to kill aran linvale without joining bodhi or after joining the shadow thieves...

i am sorry if i did not make it clear, but a mindflayer shapechange IS THE ONLY way to kill him....

you see, that character is meant to punish the pc for straying out of bounds of the game sequence, and a mindflayer shapechange is the only way to kill him, short of cntrl y....

littiz, you saw your name and alson and xyx in the thanks, right??? without you guys the guide could never ever have been written...

I should clarify that Alson and I joined to help with the ToB content, some new cheese and
general reviews and comments on the rest.. Xyx has always the greatest part of the merit
of course, as well as the final word :)

@User, I read a bit of your guide..
I had a hard time breathing between the laughs :D
Too funny!!

I just try to help a little:
  • you mention that simmies can be true-sighted, but this isn't true.
Simmie are actually "solid", they can only be killed.
  • The trick to restore spells to level drained simmies can't work..
Better, it may work only with sorcs! I debated it already with Xyx..
Level drained Mages don't only lose spells, they lose even spells selections.
The spell book is copied from the original caster's one, but the player hasn't access
to the spell book of a simmie. You can't reselect lost spells, so they can't be
    recharged....
Sorcs don't lose spell selections so the trick should work!
Anyway you can always use simmies to recharge spells of the original caster,
which was the idea behind Endless Spells :)
hope it helps :)

In the "Hardiness and Armor of Faith" section you mentioned that it is possible to make a Paladin or Fighter Cleric almost immune to physical attacks.
Using the right equipment and being evil :D can make you almost immune to physical damage (at least in ToB):

Barbarian >lvl 20: +20%

Defender of Easthaven+2 (Bonus Merchant in the Copper Coronet): +20% (except missile)

David Gaider's Bhaalspawn powers (evil ability for the 4th challenge): +25%

Hardiness: +40%

Roranach's Horn: +50% vs blunt
------------------------------------------------------

Total 105% (85% vs missile, 127% vs blunt)

Get the Belt of Inertial Barrier for 50% missile resistance.
And, if you got Tactics MOD, the Yellow Dragon armor for 50% Piercing resistance.
Beware, altough you may be immune to the physical damage, other damage and effects still punch thru (like Called Shots... you would soon find your Thac0 in the 40s!)

Do you have this on the Web somewhere? I'd like to link to it from the Spells Reference. If not, I could host it if you want.

Most of the cheese credited to me isn't by me. Some is, but most is from other people. I didn't bother mentioning where I got each and every bit of information. The Reference would be flooded with names if I did... :D

THANKS!!!

Xyx, thank you!!! you may most certainly host this document, i shall soon have version 1.1 ready, as soon as i do some edits and like michel, the other person who asked to host, i shall notify you of all updates...

what an honor...to be hosted on xyx's site...now i have hit the big times...hehehheh

littiz, i shall make the corrections and it will be in 1.1, once again sorcs rule all...hehheheh

numinor, may i quote your very nice math (hehehheh) in version 1.1??? I didnt bother adding up the numbers in the guide, but this is a particularly good summation....

leonardo, i will also add your very good point about other effects punching thru, but as you may have noticed, one exploit, killing kurosian, carrying damage thru does come up..as a pc usable spoof...hehehheh :D :p

xyx, that attribute to correct author is one of the reasons i did not write one a long time ago...i think we both did the right thing, in just thanking everyone in the forum...tho i am trying to give people credit, i sorta had to assume that not all the cheese someone posts is from them...

wow, what a response...

i shall very soon post 1.1 :D :)

What can I say? I love it of course! :D

The "Ferret Familiar smuggling the rift device " is mine. I'm quite proud of it.

Not mine, but you should mention in the Mislead entry that it allows repeated backstabs. A nice party trick.

Oh, and see if Wes will put it in as part of Ease of Use. I'm thinking the book-seller in Umar Hills (they guy who is "out of stock" because of the troubles) should sell it. Or place it in one of the containers with the copies of the Umar Witch Project and give it the same cover, if you want to be extra sneaky.

Jawohl, mein fieldmarshal...

you now have the proper credits for the familiar pickpocketing trick....it will be in the text for version 1.2...

well, the suggestion is out there, in the forgotten wars projects forum....but you know, if you want to nudge wes about it, i shall not protest...

i mean really, most of us install the big well tested mods, and wes is the best tested and safest out there, so id love wes to incorporate that into ease of use, rather than some other mod maker, so a nudge would be appreciated...in fact, if you wanted to do it, i'd like that as well...

aaagggg.....version 1.2 is proving harder to write than i thought...i really want to clean up the language, add the mislead trick, and the called shot trick, and add a special section...

spell protection removal, the users quick, dirty guide...

in which i try to debunk a lot of misunderstanding about how spell protections work, and how to break thru them, and why spells like secret word are simply not worth any consideration, and the principles of spoofing and taking down smarter liches...

:( :) :D
