Any tips for playing an evil party?

Post by Forgotten »

I only have SoA. Between BG1 and SoA I have never played an evil party. The story line and the majority of the npc's I have see seem to support the Good Party.

So to change it up I was going to try an evil party along the lines of...

Thief Main Character- Take Maevar's Guild Hall

Edwin

Viconia

Korgan

Solafein

Valen

This would mean installing the mods which I am unfamiliar with, as well as playing characters I don't know very much at all about.

What things should I know before I try this? Are Valen and Solafein evil characters? Not sure on Solafein, maybe hes like Drizzt. Pretty sure Valen is Evil.

What changes do the mods make other than making these npcs available? Are there any other major Evil NPCs I can aquire?

Any other thoughts appreciated also.

Well, sort of

Solaufein is Chaotic Neutral/Good
Valen is Chaotic Evil

You can, of course, edit other NPCs to make them evil, or at least neutral  - or have a token lightie along to torment. I've never played with add-on NPCs, though I've just installed Solaufein, possibly for my next run-through

Are you going to aim for a low-rep evil party or high rep one? Just curious what you want to DO that's evil. I sided with the vampires first time through - it was actually rather fun.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

I tend to play good parties each time I go thru, however I wanted to try the Valen mod last time I played. I can assure you she's pure evil :)

Expect her to have a mind of her own in some situations, but she's great to have along. Was extremely powerful by the time I reached the end of TOB. You say that you don't have TOB installed, it won't matter.......... she'll still be able to wipe out anything put in front of her :P

Assuming you fight out the sun that is.................... ;)

A couple of slight spoilers

One drawback to your plan is that you can't side with Bhodi (the truly evil path) if you are a theif. I think someone has written a patch. You can side with Bhodi if you are a multi-class theif.

The only time I played evil, was with a Swashbuckler. Just before I met Bhodi I saved, and used SK to change into a fighter/theif. After the conversation, I again used SK to change back to a Swashbuckler. I had no problems with the Bhodi chapter 3 doing this.

I was surprised at how much fun it was to play evil. Little things like kicking Valygal's ***, and finally picking all the evil dialogue options. And I'm not in any rush to rescue my sister, because she was always kind of annoying anyway. I am a little curious about what Jon knows about my power.

Being evil, I used Minsc & J as human shields in Jon's dungeon and as mule's to pack out my loot. Once I was free, I ditched them. I know you love me J, but it ain't mutual. Oh, did I break your heart? Too bad.

On second thought, maybe I am enjoying playing evil too much. That's it, Paladin next time.

Forgotten, you could try the Vanim mod (neutral evil half-elven assassin):
