Most interesting characters?

Post by Quitch »

It's been discussed a million times, which characters are best, which combos of items makes who a God?

Well what about interest? In terms of interaction, party chat, interrupting you when talking to NPCs, adding to plot etc......which character(s) do you think are the most interesting to bring along?

Myself, I would class Imoen as essential, since she is so close to the centre of the plot. Minsc and Jaheira were with you in BG I, so I also think they're good to have along, especially for those blast from the past moments (I didn't try playing BG all the way through till I read a review of BG 2, so I made sure to recruit the people who'd be in BG2, which I think has made it all the more satisfying to play).

But who do you think are the most interesting characters to bring along? My party lacks a bit in the party chatter area.

Well, besides Imoen,Jaheira and Minsc I use Aerie and Amomen.
Aerie because she is very usefull.(and I kinda Like her, as a Friend not as a Romance)
Amomen Because he is the Female Romance.(however even if he is not, He is also very usefull)

I should think this would be obvious to everyone!
MINSC, of course

I mean c'mon, his battle-cries alone make him the best comic relief character in the game!

Jaheira.....Jaheira....Jaheira.....Jaheira

She's good looking(far better than anyone else in the game)....she's got the best war cries.....the most enjoyable romance....nice voice..and dialogues....she's the best quite simply...
They better add some new Jaheira dialogues and quests in the expansion...(I can't get enough of her).. Image

Most interesting, IMO, is Jan Jansen. As a multiclass character, you can use him in many different ways, for a start. Second, he gets along with everybody else (no risk for a character leaving in the middle of the game). Also, he is satisfied in an evil party as well as a good one. Finally, he has the best dialogs in the entire game. I can't image how they came up with the stuff he's saying! Not to forget, gnomes are very cool.

quote from Astafas about Jan : "he gets along with everybody else" no hes doesnt!, he irritates virtually everyone in the game.
Minsc doesnt like him becaus he tries to steal boo, anomen doesnt like him, Edwin and viconia detest him. The only person that doesnt mind him is korgan, who enjoys his stories but still hold the fact that he is a gnome against him.

None of these actually lead to fights or people leaving the party.

I do agree that he is the most interesting npc as these little squabbles are funny to listen to.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Actually, it is Haer D'alis... I mean, he is quite useless as a character but he is quite a guy to have along:
- The romance thing with Aerie (bloody sob stealing your romance... bah! He is doing your PC a great favor, if I might say)
- Hitting on every female in your party
- Many funny dialogues with most of the NPC ingame (Korgan, Jan, Jaheira etc.)
- Quite an attitude (ballbreacking, I 'd say)

Isn't that enough? Had the sob with me halfway through the game (the second one) just to see those interactions

Well, besides Imoen,Jaheira and Minsc I use Aerie and Amomen.

Ah, my party exactly Image

I would also agree with Karembeu, Jaheira has the best war cries Image

The player character probably has the worst (whatever happened to great ones like Death to you all! and so forth?).....then again, Aerie's aren't exactly war cries now are they Image

Alienbob- Did I put Hard Rock?
It's been awhile, I don't even remember. The funny thing is, I'm Alternative all the way. I just kinda consider them the same thing sometimes. But it's always alternative, and not hard rock.

And no, I don't like rap, I dislike it almost as much as pop music.

I try to always have Viconia and Jan in any group I have. Aside from both of them being insanely useful, it seems like nearly every other NPC will react to them. Usually in a pretty hostile manner, which makes it all the funnier. (grin)

Barring them, I always keep Jaheira for romance purposes (in spite of the fact that I've yet to get through a game without her script wigging out on me at some point...this time through she seems to be getting a kick out of making Elminster bury me in surplus harper pins) and Minsc for just general entertainment. Heh, I loved having him speak to the pirate captain.

Cernd had some pretty amusing dialogue towards the end of his deadbeat dad quest (threatening the golem was a personal favorite of mine), but I just never seem to have a place for him in my party...especially given that I always have Jaheira, and my guy is a druid too half the time. I need three of them about like I need another hole in my rear...they're not that good in the first place, and the level 14 restriction is killing me.

Mazzy is interesting for NPC interaction too, since she almost always has something to say to...well, damn near everyone you meet. Seems like she knows half the city's population personally.
