Is this cheating?
The 7th level cleric spell Gate summons a Pit Fiend, a big bad boy. The problem is that the kills that this guy makes don't get you XP... But if you kill him, you get 16,000 XP. Now suppose I gate a Pit Fiend, without protection from evil, adn I kill it to get the XP? Do you consider this cheating? It's like casting XP.
Anyway, I have never done this, and probably never will, but it's nice if you are soloing.

If you do it for the sole purpose of killing it without it doing anything for you I consider it extreme cheese.

That seems to point up a significant difference between Europeans and Americans. A European says: "I can't understand this, what's wrong with me?" An American says: "I can't understand this, what's wrong with him?"
I reckon that Stonehege was build by the contemporary equivalent of Microsoft, whereas Avebury was definitely an Apple circle.

Heh...no, actually I consider it good roleplaying.
Good Cleric rests up and gates in an evil Pit Fiend, kills it, gates in the next...and the next and the next. If enough Clerics do this, maybe they could eliminate the Pit Fiends from existance!
Sort of reminds me of a time Pkilling on a MUD where one of the guilds actually had a summon player spell...after 3 of us one by one wiped out most of the rest of the MUD, things changed.

No.
1. If you can cast 7th level spells you dont need the 16k exp.
2. You have to rest to get another Fiend so I think you paid for the exp.
3. You killed a Fiend no matter how it got there you killed it so it's your exp.

Hmmmm must be another bug. Just one more of the 9999 bugs in the later versions. I'm glad I preorder mine...no bugs at all.
I have spent time casting Gate from both my mages and cleric....in hell to get Imoen up to the cap. Dismiss everyone except Me , mage and Imoen.. cast gate..kill pit fiend..repeat till mage is out of spells...dismiss that mage , pick up the other mage repeat...then pick up cleric repeat. Sleep and start again.

Not cheating. You killed it right? So why shouldnt you get rewarded for it? This is sort of like discusing the xp cap.

Plans within plans...
I use gate frequently . I just love to listen the sounds of pit fiend's fight. And it is soooooo cool to open some door, cast gate and close the door .
I didn't consider gaining Xp in such a manner because it is so boring .

If you don't cast prot. from Evil and you get a fight with it it's not cheese either I think.
