Beginners Guide (For thieves and agents alike)

This might be a little silly guide because most playes want to learn things by their own. If you,however,find yourself frustrated then here are a few tips to get you started.

First of all the character.If you want a fighter or a mage then this guide won't offer you much.This guide is most suitable for stealth specialists.

My character was like this (or still is :p ):
Milana, female wood elf

Adventurer(custom class)

Major skills:Sneak,Short blade,Light armor,Acrobatics,Speechcraft

Minor skills:Athletics,Mercantile,Enchant,Alchemy,Security

Birthsign:The Lady (for speechcraft improvement)

Now that is only an example. Now...the tips:

1.Few levels up

*Swing your weapon with the weakest attack. The more often you swing the faster you get experince.
*Want to be an acrobat?Even as you run or walk, jump.Jump all the time and acrobatics goes up every second.This gives you strenght as well when you level up. And strenght is IMPORTANT even for a thief (you jump higher). Or so it seems...
*Talk,talk and talk. To improve speechcraft you naturally have to talk a lot.Admire everyone you see (bribing is effective but you lose coin quickly,avoid it). If a person's additude drops to 40 or below he/she is harder to persuade so quick save before persuasion and load if it goes wrong. Speechcraft takes hard work,patience and time to develop.
*When you have some money,1000 or two, get some training. It is up to you what you want to train. I trained speechcraft to 50. A waste? Perhaps but then it was easy to persuade people and increase the skill fast without saving and loading and pissing everybody off.

2.Money

*Oh yes, the big M in Morrowind. Money is a big thing. You need it for almost everything. When you are venturing is a tomb or a cave, loot almost everything. Silverware cups and jugs give some additional money,scrolls give some more. After you get a decent weapon you can consentrate on items that are REALLY valuable.
*There are plenty of water around Seyda Neen.See those seeweeds?Well,there are often kallops among them and inside kallops are pearls.Each is worth a 100 so get out in the sea and start collecting!Easy money...
*Mercantile skill.I was a little stupid for not using this skill in the beginning.When you sell something try to raise the prise,if the storekeeper likes you then it is easier to bargain. You might not get that much more money but it helps.

3.Armor (minor spoiler)

You will be attacked by a Dark Brotherhood assassin (only if you have Tribunal?).Loot his armor after he is dead.Nice suit.

4.Weapon (minor spoiler)

When you have a few hundred (500-1000) take the silt strider to Balmora,go to the Fighter's Guild and buy a Dwemer Jinksword from the Redguard. This sword will serve you for a long time...

5."A secret" (tiny spoiler)

*Head north from Seyda Neen along the road and you will suddenly encounter a book lying on the ground. Approach it and an elf falls to the ground and dies. He has some nice equipment...
*There are many hollow tree stumps near the light house...

Well I hope this helps at least someone.Everyone is free to give their own tips if need be. But do remember that getting to know the world of Morrowind is perhaps the best part of the game so don't rush out to read walktroughs when you have a puzzle to solve. Use your emagination and think: What would you do if you were really there?This question DOES help,Morrowind is quite a realistic game.

jumping is an incredibly useful skill...

making just one constant effect jump around 12 points exquisite ring or amulet makes travelling from town to town very easy, just keep jumping...(you did make the constant effect slowfall item, right??? you only need 1 point to keep from taking any damage)

when you get into a major fight and you are losing, just jump if you are in the open or in a place with a high ceiling...this breaks monster ai targetting lock, and allows you a breather...

many many thefts are easier by simply jumping up to a ledge, or levitate, and using telekinesis...

and yes, str will improve jump height.
