Solo Assassin No Potions !!

Post by Graeye »

There are only 2 offensive potions available in the game ... fiery burning (explosions is the same thing, essentially) and firebreath. The REALLY useful one is firebreath. So how many can I buy? FIVE !! That's right, FIVE !! Two at the Promenade and three from Roger in the sewers ... that's IT.

At this early stage in the game, I see no earthly way to fight groups of enemies with just a sword at 10 THACO; I haven't got a chance in Hell. Am I missing something? People say they've played the whole game as a solo assassin ... without cheating like hell??

Even my THACO puzzles me a little; with mind-focusing and a strength belt, my stats are 19 strength and 21 dexterity. I've got a +2 weapon and it still totals a steenking 10??

In any event, I've tried to do everything I can do while avoiding combat as much as possible and I've managed to get to Lvl 12. Now, however, it's time to fight and I have no clue to how I'm supposed to win even simple battles. (sigh) Hiding in shadows doesn't help much when you're surrounded by trolls.
Woo hoo ! Floor pie !! (Homer Simpson)

If you play him as a fighter you will struggle. Potions of invisibilty are useful for an assassin. You get +4 to your thac0 when hidden or invis. It is a bit difficult in the beginning but gets easier. Try to get hold of a good shortbow with fast rate of fire*hint*
You can't handle the truth!
