Nickademus favor.....

Hi everybody.

I am new to this forum, but have been playing Icewind Dale II for some days now.
Now the problem is...
After I entered the entrance to the Fields of Slaugther, the mage Nickademus from the Aurilite Ice temple summoned me, to call in on his favor. I have been hacking away through the demons, and can't find anymore if them. But I can't exit at the eastern staircase, either. What am I doing wrong?

This is a disgusting part of the game. I had to go systematically room by room to make sure I got each and every demon there. Once you kill them all, you will get a message come up something to the effect of you have cleared the floor of all demons or some such.

If you haven't seen that message, you probably are missing some little booger in a hidden corner somewhere.
