Hey there, first time posting, long time reader... I need help.. first my question is this...
Can I create a room using the NWN toolset or toolkit, simply for the purpose of putting items inside it, in order to put a character in the room, get the items i want, then export my character in order to use him and the aquired items in a normal game? I remember a similar stunt was widely popular for BG1 among the cheat sites...
Second....now having asked that... being stupid, and just wanting to try it first and use posting my questions as a last option in order to not bother people with my problems, i've gone ahead and used the toolkit to make a single room and have put items in (as well as self made items also using the toolkit), now i don't know how to get it so that i can actually put my charactor into the room.. and play... I think i recall seeing how to export my charactor out of my current game, but i need to know how to import him into the room i've made... and i'm guessing i'll have to import the room i made into the game so far... make sence? I sure hope so.. please help
Toolset.. help

About your problem, since you have done the room, you need to start a new game and then choose the name of the module you want to play (in your case is the name you gave for the room you created). You will then have then option to select a premade chacater or start a new one. Select your current character from your normal game and play. Get what items you want and export that character.
Now IIRC in order to import the character back to your normal game you have to choose "multiplayer" at the main menu and load your savegame from there. This way you will have the option again to choose a premade or new character.
However doing so you will start back to the first area of the chapter you play and your hencmen will not follow you any more (if you had one).

I've never done this multiplayer thing before, but if you start back in the first area anyway, and have do redo all the quests, isn't it the same as importing the char into the new game in singleplayer and start from scratch? Thanks..
Ignis, I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is no tool like SK for BGII which allows us to change items mid-module. You have to restart from the beginning of the module.
When I start playing a custom module, I take a look at the module with the toolset - you can see all the custom items created for the module. If I see something - a suit of armor for instance - which I'd like tailored to my tastes, I just create it, carry it with me into the module, and only equip it once I get the original. What a pain!

Thanks alot guys, that really helps... but in doing that I guess I might as well just start a new... I'm still in chapter one anyway.... just got the game about 3 days ago. Sucks there is no SK... but oh well.. this is fine.. thanks again.

Ignis - Well..if you'd like a program which changes your XP, SKills, Feats, Stats, Classes, etc, you can use Leto ..I don't have a link here, but search on Leto+Neverwinter+Nights and you should find it. It lets you customize your charecter, but not his/her inventory. Pretty useful when you find yourself saddled with the wrong feat 2 levels down..

Just to make one thing clear, even though you start at the starting area of the chapter if you do this, all the things you have done with the previous character are still done, so you continue from there. However i have never completed a chapter this way so i am not sure if it will work up until to the end.

well i figure screw it.. I've got nothing better to do than to start it over.. if i were further along in the game i'd he hesitant, but just chapt. 1, so i'm alright with it.. there were a couple things I wanted to do differently anyway.. but at least i'm not a total cheater, as soon as I realized (after importing my character and starting over) that i still had all the story items in my inventory i dumped them into a random crate outside the Trade Of Blades heh.. oh and in response to the person who said i should take the 5 years of schooling to make my own SK for NWN.. yeah right man.. i've got enough trouble getting up the patience to learn HTML lol... i'm one of those people who like to play a game, but I don't think about how much trouble it was to design every single snowflake that falls on the ground. All praise to those designers that make things so easy for me.
