Durlag's Tower 2nd dungeon level
Durlag's Tower 2nd dungeon level
I've gone round and round in the 2nd dungeon level and can't get the door open so I can take all my loot back upstairs and sell it. The door I need to open does not respond to knock or anything else that I try. I have the teleport stones and a bunch of other ward stones. Is there a walkthrough that covers all the levels of the tower? Please help. Thanks.

What do you consider to be the second dungeon level? The first level should be where you meet the wounded adventurer. The second level should be the big area with the four warders. Either way neither has a door leading up that closes. Are you trying to go up the spiral staircase or out the door exit on the level below? If its not working you might want to check that you have the ToTSC patch applied. Without the patch you usually get stuck from doors that won't open in the level below the four warders (dungeon level 3).

Just try and try all combinations possible and it should eventualy work..... if not have a look at the walkthrough @ GB, they might have a set of steps that you can follow.... if nothing else works try getting the patch if youhaven't already.....

I guess you would call it the 3rd level. After beating the 4 warders, I went down to a round room with several doors. I can't get back to this room. Game Banshee's walkthrough for the tower only provides a map of the level with the warders and a description of what will be encountered on the upper levels from the 1st floor when you enter the tower. Is there a walkthrough with maps posted anywhere? Thank you.

This is where you get stuck if you don't have the game patch for ToTSC applied. If you don't have the patch you may be screwed - try applying it and going back to an earlier save. If you do have the patch then its just a matter of triggering the various door opening devices. First there are the two statues that you can rotate to cause some doors to open. Then there are the practice dummies that trigger other doors to open once you place the three color coded wardstones in them. I think you have to strike the right dummy for it to activate a door. If you've made it into the upper chamber where you pick up Kiel's helm then there are some levers nearby that you can manipulate to open all the doors on this dungeon level. Problem is that the levers are actually in a locked room so you can't see them, but if you stand close enough to the right hand side wall and run your mouse cursor over the area you will discover that you can move them. Each lever opens/shuts a door. Just keep working on them until each one gives you the message "A door has opened somewhere" - or words to that effect. Every time you exit this level and return the doors will reset, or at least some of them will have and you will have to go back are repeat some of the door opening steps.
Edit: I checked Dan Simpson's BG1 walkthru and it didn't shed any more light on this problem, only that it's his least favorite level in the dungeon.
