Nalia's Castle vs. Mae'var's Guild

Post by Vicsun »

Just wondering what to choose... (i'm an evil bountyhunter\fighter). Nalia's castle generates gold, and you are able two raise/lower taxes (Sim City!), but I don't really need that gold (250GP a week?!). Does mea'var's guild generate anything (the sphere generates potions i think, so every stronghold should genarate smth, right?)?

De'Arnise hold (that nalia's castle) "gives" you minimum of 500gp/week + you can rise taxes (not sure how much it "gives" then).
If I remember correctly, the thief guild can give about 1000gp if you're a) lucky b) set the thieves to do a little riskier job

With the sphere your trainees can manufacture powerful magical items for you and after that make potions

I'm not sure, but I think it's possible to have the keep and another stronghold. Just say no the first time Nalia asks you, get the other stronghold and then go back to tell Nalia you changed your mind, that way I think you can have two strongholds... It may be worth a try.

On this site someone has taken the time and imagination to figure out how you optimize the outcome of the thieves stronghold (it's listed in the stronghold section and even more detailed in the appendix). Might be interesting for all you thieves out there.

It's Renal, not Aran. The one who gave you the quest in the first place.

I had no problem earning enough money by doing 90% of the quests. Therefore I beat the game without the need to control a stronghold and use tax income.

You might have to carry a lot of loot between trips to vendors, but I found some magical items and extra platemail was well worth carrying around. For carrying tons of platemail, make sure you have Cernd in your party. In Werewolf form he has a 500 weight limit! Also characters with Str+ betls can do the same.

Do you get something to do when running the thiefs guild? Like the tasks you get when you have the keep or are a paladin.

My guild lieutenant told me once that one of the thiefs was stealing money from me, I told him to cut their pay and they killed the guilty one.
Now each time I ask him if there is something new to report, he says "no there isn't".
So, was that all?

umm...I didn't even know that strongholds generate stuff. So do the other strongholds generate something too, if they do, what?
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

The Planar Sphere (mage stronghold) can generate up to 3 magical artifacts, thanks to your gaining 3 apprentices. Later on, you have a good chance of one apprentice returning to produce some magical potions each week.

Clerics, paladins and rangers gain experience.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Rapier,

You consider full plate armor with -1 AC to be crap?

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Overall, rangers get the best of it, I'd say.
