Problem with pyrotechnics?

Post by jerubal »

I've just re-installed ToB after installing Windows XP, and when I made it to Yaga Shura's Heart room, it started crashing. I thought it might be to do with the giant's spell casting animation for Brenan(sp?), so I killed him super-quick with backstabs and assassinations.
However, when I got to Imix it crashed again...
Being the persevering type, I left Yaga Shura's and went to Watcher's Keep :p . It was all going well... until I reached the room with the fire giant and elementals on the second level (with the Chromatic Demon).

So it crashes on the animations of the elementals and the giants, I suppose... I don't know why, and I don't know how to fix it.. so that's what I'm asking. ^_^

Either update the drivers for your video and sound cards, get the ToB patch, or disable 3D accelleration.

Other then that, I don't know.

BG2 wont run at all on my PC after I installed WinXP.... I had to install win98SE as well inorder to play any heavy 3D games at all (NWN, BG2, WCIII etc.).... I don't know if it's my graph card (GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB-DDR) or something alse but I seem to have to use Win98 to run the games....... not sure if this is your problem as well though......

It's fully patched; I tried disabling the graphics card and it still crashed... I'm getting a few other parts tonight (memory, sound card etc), so I'll try switching them around...

Maybe it's XP, but I thought that'd stop it running altogether.

Thanks for giving it a think :)
