When I turn into the slayer

Post by Fiske »

I'm in the mind flayer's dungon. To open some doors we need either mind-flayers or Goddly strength. With all the flayers dead, I turn into the slayer, open the door, feel my controll slipping, my clerics cast healing spells, I die. What to do? what to do?

It happens if you're in the Slayer form too long. You'll eventually die.

There's a room where flayers helpfully respawn every once in a while...use the control circlet and take him (it?) to the obstructing doors.

In case you didn't understand what Nightmare said, you need to go back to human form when your control starts slipping; if you wait too long, you'll die. Just go back to the toolbar and select "End Slayer Change" (it's in the same spot where you found "Slayer Change").

I've noticed that if you've had a mind flayer under circlet control to long they no longer can open the door. In which case you need to go back and get a fresh flayer. Don't know why that happens but it doesn't pay to get more than one at a time or to get one in advance of when you absolutely need them for the door opening.

if you hold the mindflayer under a charm spell or the circlet for too long, you get the message "the mindflayer has turned it's power against you. There is no way of surviving" and your protagonist is dead. (powerful mind-blasting I guess...)

You could use the slayerform and keep the circlets to control other mindflayers in the game to use them as extra allies... (or cannon fodder :D )
There's no knowledge that's not POWER!!!!

Do the circlets work on anything other than mindflayers? Just for kicks I once tried on one of the planar prison circlets and it worked - my char became a thrall and attacked the party (this was before I had killed the Warden). Never experimented with the flayer circlets though.

AFAIK you can charm almost anyone with the mindflayer circlets, even Irenicus or Bodhi ;)
Since I'm about to face Bodhi in my current game (first game with a bard :D ) I'll test it and post the reslults .

And that would exclude whom in ToB...?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
