I had IDII installed, patched, and running, and had made my way though to nearly the end of chapter 1. Then disaster struck, and I had to have a reformat done. I saved a folder called "Cache" which contained a folder called "Data" which contained what looked like my saves. I have re-installed and patched IDII, and have put this folder back in where it came from, but none of my saves are being listed! Help! What have I done wrong? Is there a solution to this?
I'm afraid that you have lost your saved games. They were stored in a folder called "mpsave". The "cache" folder temporarily holds maps of the areas you have been to. (It is called a "cache" because storing maps on the hard drive instead of reading them from the CD-ROM improves loading times). Your characters were automatically saved in the "Characters" folder when you created them, but those are probably gone, too. I'm afraid you'll have to start over.
