does anyone have a savegame from after Irenicus' dungeon?

Post by Rincewind »

I don't know if anyone will remember me, but I was Stone Cold Kris. Until i stopped playing baldur's gate and left the 'banshee boards. Anyway...
I started playing BG2 again recently, and i've just remembered how tedious and pointlessly boring Irenicus' dungeon is. Does anyone have a savegame from just after it that I could have, please? LI can just change the protagonist myself afterwards. I did used to have one of my own, but I deleted it for some reason. It would be muchly appreciated. Cheers

The perfect solution for your problem:
:D
The Dungeon-be-Gone Mod

It let you skip the entire dungeon without missing the equipment and experience.

I really don't understand why so many people don't like Jon's dungeon. I have probably tried it a 100 times, and I still like it. Sometimes when I am bored, I will make a power party & just blast through it for fun. One time, I turned all 4 of the starting characters into Archers & gave them all kick-but bows. It was a blast, but I couldn't see playing the whole game that way. Or, for more of a challenge, I'll make a weak solo character (like Bard or theif) & try the dungeon solo. The of course, there is the tactics mod. After all the times through, it is still one of my favourite parts of the game.

Does anyone else feel this way, or am I the only one?

I think you are one of the few. i still like to play through it but it is a bit boring most of the time. i installed Dungeon-be-gone after then or twenty play throughs half of them solo (i dont seem to be playing anything bu solo lately. just finished this game with sorc)

Yea, especialy since there are quite a few chronic restarters out there like myself, who just can't decide what we want, and the Dungeon-be-Gone Mod is what got me back into BGII after a lengthy haitus. Anyway, I think it's one of the few mods out there that's actually worth downloading and using aside from NPC add-ins like Kelsey.

The start dungeon has some serious strikes against it that most other portions of BG2 don't. It's linear, which some of the other portions of the game also are (Underdark, for instance)... BUT, because of the limited range of available NPCs, limited range of available weaponry/spells, and limited range of opponents, there just aren't that many different ways to play it.

The alternative is to stock up on Tactics components (Improved Ilyich, etc.) which some people do to spice up the start.
