Question about XP

Post by Idioteque »

I've noticed I'm only getting half the XP mentioned in the walkthrough. For example, when I defeat Daevoron it says I get 6000 XP but I only get 3000, and when I talk to Marl it says I should get 900 and i get 450. Does this have to do with the version I have? I have BG Original Saga includes ToTSC. I also installed the expericence cap remover which was for the plain BG version and not for mine, could that be the problem?

The XP is divided amongst your party members I think. So the party would get 6000XP, while that total would be redistributed in even portions IIRC.

Yeah I know that, but I'm saying the total XP my group gets is half of what the walkthrough says I should get.

IIRC you get half the XP when playing against monsters with half the HP, which is what happens when you play in easy mode..... I don't have BG1 installed atm so I can't check it out but I think this is on of the back lashes of playing at easy difficulty....... unfortunateli you don't get double when playing on hard, but then again you max out pretty soon anyway.....

OK under difficulty in the game options it says moving the cursor to an easier difficulty decreases experience point proportionatey but the same is not true if you move to a higher difficulty. Being a chronic restarter I am going to start over on normal difficulty :D , maybe use a smaller party too to level up even faster. Thanks to those that responded.

anytime ;) playing a small party can often be more rwarding than playing a party of 6 or 5..... the chars become much better faster and you also get a higher concentration of good weapons :D :D anyway good luck and hope you return to the forums for help ;)
