A couple of questions

Post by Hurin »

What is a really fun class to play through soa and tob? I just bought and beat tob and LOVED it! :) I plan on playing though soa and tob at least once more :) . I have played a barbarian through both and a palidin a swashbuckler and a berserker through soa. If you had'nt noticed from all of those classes im really into the melee thing but im open to suggestions :)

Thankyou for any suggestions! :)

P.S. What is the next rpg you are looking foward to? getting ideas for next game I wanna buy. :)

Hello. :)

How about a spell caster? Avenger (druid kit) or Sorcerer are interesting choice, I think.

Also, have you ever played dual class/multi class character? Ranger/Cleric and Fighter (or Kensai)/Mage are the most popular combination. :) Don't say you want to play once more. You can play many more times! :D

As for the other games suggestions, go to Speak Your Mind forum (the SYM) of this site. There are a few threads on new games and games recommendations. ;)

Try the wild mage. They'e a great deal of fun, especially if you decide beforehand not to reload if the chaotic spell effects come out against you. The element of chance really adds to that pick. :)

Really funny when the WM's spells go awry and cows drop from the sky!

If you are a soloer, you may like to know that someone has soloed it all the way to the end of ToB here. Pretty impressive.

I'd love to try to, the question is: will I be able to resist when I'll lose all party's gold?
I, mean, GOLD! :D

I've always liked druids. They can be decent fighters, and it's fun shapeshifting or beating on people with the improved Staff of the Ram.

They can be if they're dualed or multiclassed as a fighter, otherwise they're stuck with 1 weapon proficiency slot and less-than-chain armor (if I remember right). Jaheira's an example of a fighter/druid.

Since you like melee, you could try a blade. He 's decent enough in hand to hand combat and has enough other abilities to give you a whole new gaming experience.

But she is a poor second to the Avenger (awesome class) druid-wise because she is dualled. An Avenger is weak to start with, as druids often are, and it takes tactics and skill to play them successfully. But they do become formidable later in the game, without being over-uber :) and they are a lot of fun to play.

btw, a straight druid can be dualled, but a Shapeshifter or an Avenger cannot, since that is a kit, and a kit cannot be dualled.

Druids are limited to scale male, but the red dragon scale, and a ring of protection can give your druid an AC of -9 (stats also affecting) come ToB (since this is where dragon scale achieves full magical capabilities). With ToB you cannot equip a ring/cloak of protection with dragon scale at the same time *unless* they were already equipped before you installed ToB. If you have SoA only, both of these can be legally worn, but once ToB gives the dragon scale its renewed capabilities, you lose the ability to wear both the scale and any other protection. If you have both equipped at the point you install ToB you will be fine, but only for the protagonist. The reason this is, is because when the protagonist dies, the game ends, so you do not have the option to resurrect and re-equip. With any other character who dies, once ToB is installed, you will not be able to re-equip these items together.

A final note, though you are limited to one proficiency slot re weaponry, it is not necessarily a major hindrance. Role play your druid, put proficiency points in dual wielding, and have them wield Bane and Scimitar +2 (Rashad's Talon?) and they will have eventually about three attacks a round. It has been a while, restarting now but with TDD, and she already has 4 attacks per round with a new blade thanks to TDD, and I am yet to enter Chapter 3)

I thought that druids were limited to studded leather armor. I know Fighter/Druids can equip any armor that a fighter can, but vanilla druids and their kits, I believe, could not. Did TDD change that? (never played with any mods, I confess)

Belm is the +2 scimitar with the added attack, in case you're wondering, Yshania. Still, I've found it to equip a druid with a good staff, like the one you can get in

Well im too lazy to read through the posts right now but i dont think anyone mentioned monk. Not only does their unarmed attack look cool they also become very powerful later in the game.
Also you should try a fighter amge or some type of magic user as i used to be very partial to fighters until i became a mage and realized what i was missing out on(even the simplest of spells bring me joy ie fire ball magic missle flame arrow :) ) So try it theres a 85 percent chance youl love it(I woulda said 75% but mages have trouble learning spells with a chance like that. )

@Galuf, you are right, it is Belm not Bane, my bad.

But druids can wear scale mail *if* it is of animal origin and not metal. ie any dragon scale ;)

try a thief/mage multi class combo, pick up jan, and the two of you can backstab your way through the game courtesy of mislead.

elf fighter/mage/thief is also fun but you gotta go solo and pick your quests wisely

I have been through the game as jester and had great fun. The jesters bard song is a killer. But you shouldn[t pick improved bard song from the list of high level abilities
