Anyone like to test out a new piece of cheese for me???

Post by UserUnfriendly »

Ok, I don't have baldur's gate installed in my machine right now, and I won't until a lot later, since I am having problems with my hard drive, and I can't afford to buy a new drive right now...

So I had this cheesy new concept, and would appreciate it if someone could test it out for me...

you would recieve credit as guinea pig extraordinare in my next version of the cheese guide...

it is another wish spell exploit...

one option of wish spell is "cast improved haste on party" which is an excellent option, since with one cast, everyone in the party has improved haste...I think this was meant for fighter heavy partys led by a mage or sorceror, since you can with one spell prepare everyone for combat...

but here is the question....if you choose that option, will improve haste be cast on SUMMONS????!!!!

imagine the possibilites...

abuse project image to summon about 10 skeleton warriors, or invisible stalkers, or any long lasting summon...

if you use project image and g acuity, you can summon a flock of swords, too...

then cast wish, and recast until you get the improved haste option...if the spell casts improved haste on all green circle in range, all your summons now have improved haste on!!!!!!

now hasted (normal) skellys and swords and invisible stalkers are bad enough, but improve hasted???!!!

not only will they be fast, but they attack with twice as many attacks per round as normal....

heck, you can even abuse the limited wish spell exploit to summon 6 vampires and control them into your army, improve haste them, making them twice as nasty, and use them to kill dragons...

ought to make the new components of the tactics mod easy, eh???

(the undead army exploit is in the cheese guide...and in the latest tactics mod, in small teeth pass, after you leave the underdark, are 3 dragons...   )

thanks!!!

I will check it out as soon as the game is installed again.

My comp just crashed and now I'm installing BG II as I am writing :p

When I'm playing, 2 summons or so will be enough for your experiment I guess...???

If you want me to test it with 6 summons, there is one problem.....from former experiments I seem to be unable to gather 6 or more summons.
I know the cheese exploit with PI will make it work....but i failed in it.

ps. Could you post a link to your cheese guide again please??

Anyway.......Ill post here as soon as I can again.

Woohoo! I am a guinea pig extraordinare! I tested your tactic on Invisible Stalkers. Suprisingly, it did not work out how you and I thought it would.

By choosing the option 'Cast Improved Haste on party members', your summons are not affected; only my party was Improved hasted.

However, if you choose 'Cast Improved Haste on your enemies', my Invisible Stalkers were hasted, with all the benifits of Improved Haste (the Invisible Stalkers now had two attacks per round, faster movement, etc.)

I do not know if this is because the Invisible Stalkers are not spawned, but rather 'gated' via portal, but for some reason, the game engine identifies them as enemies when casting Wish instead of party members. I will test on some monster summons and tell you what happens then.

Tested with Monster Summonings III. Same result. When asked to cast on enemies, the summons were Improved Hasted, but when asked to cast on party, no effect on the summons.

The same goes for my Project Image. It is not hasted unless you ask for the Wish to be cast on enemies. I guess that is cheese in and of itself (the fact that summons can be improved hasted via Wish, although you also haste your enemies), but it is not as beneficial as we first thought. I hope I have been of help!

Thanks thufir!!!

it was a beautiful idea in concept, but once again it didn't work...

oh well...now the improved haste on enemies...thats of limited value since if your summons and the enemy are both improved hasted, the carnage will be massive and just plain evil...lots of fun to watch, but not all that useful...

sytze, here is the link to xyx's spell guide,

http://members.chello.nl/~j.vanthull/BG2SR/Home.htm

version 1.3 is up...I plan to release version 1.5 soon...

the only way I could see using improved haste on enemies is to take advantage of double damage in a damage over time area effect spell...if you improve haste a creature, it will regenerate at double speed, and take twice the damage per round in a cloudkill...not terribly useful...

well, I tried...
