Whatever you do, don't buy this game! All it has to offer are--

tons of quests
highly individualized NPCs you can add to make up a party
loads of great weapons
fantastic spells
strong graphics
the ability to choose sides in some conflicts
lots of character customization

Who needs all that? Go, find another great twitch game like Nox!

If you ask this question HERE, you can guess what will
be the answer! This is the TEMPLE of BG2ers!!!!

Anyway, you can also compare the number of posts in this
forum with the others, so you'll have an idea of the quality
of this game. I'm an "old" and avid PC player, and BG2 is by
far the best game I've ever had.
The only (real) downside is that you'll find yourself spending
too much time with it.
I keep playing and replaying it!

I have to add anyway that it is more single-player oriented, IMO.
I've never tried BG2 in MP, so I can be wrong, but surely it
was not designed to be the ultimate MP game.
If you'll miss it for this, well, your choice....

Anyway in this Forum you can learn a lot of hints and strategies,
don't worry! I keep discovering new features by reading the posts...

...unless, of course, if you want to have life away from your computer. :D

It's very easy to lose meals, sleeping hours, and friends if you buy this game. ;)

Actually I find this game too hard. You need to study BG's theory of everything.

I don't read any AD&D books, and I have no interest in the "worlds of Baldur's Gate." I simply picked up the game, read through the manual, and played it. Perhaps I'm missing something in your post, but I don't see any theory of anything that's required to get up to speed.

Sorry, but actually I don't think one needs to study any theory at all. Just the manual is suffient enough.

I, for one, hadn't read any books, hadn't played any D&D game before BG2, had not idea at all how these sort of games work, but I did proceed quite satisfactory for a novice, and learned all I needed during the game's progress.

It might had given me a hard time in the beginning, but it was part of its beauty I think.

Losing meals, hours of rest, friends, etc.? Oh, well, I suppose you have to pay a price about everything you're enjoying in this life. :D

Cheers,

If you're looking for a game like Diablo 2 then this game isnt for you, people on here will be happy to help you but it's not like theres a huge multiplayer server and you can just jump into it and ask anyone questions. It's just not that type of game, for multi its more suited for LAN and a bunch of friends who have weekends where they do nothing but play BG2...The weekends go so fast too  . But it aint a D2 like game, it is extremely fun though so i recommend getting it but its more single player with a huge storyline (unlike D2).
