Want to kill Irenicus easy? (not a cheat)

Post by hiawathaboy »

I finally got to Irenicus in the Tree of Life. I was a little worried that I would be replaying this battle for hours trying to beat him. Well, that didn't happen...

When the battle started, I moved all my characters out of range (Irenicus was hidden by the "fog", two characters on each branch). I hurridly cast monster summoning to hold him so he wouldn't come within range. While he was woking on the monsters I summoned a Hakashear (spelling?) and a Nishuruu (again, spelling?).

Well, Irenicus was basically helpless while the two summoned creatures drainined him. When they were unsummoned, it only took another round of summoned monsters to finish him off.

Thank you Aerie and Nalia!

Not one of my characters lost a hit point, but they still mentioned the "terrible battle" when we got to Hell.

Have fun with this one and let me know if it worked for you!

I sort of did the same thing. I just used nasty area spells like cloud kill, etc. My party was unscathed too.

I think most players have tried this, though. I´m sure it would qualify as cheese, since Irenicus makes no attempt to get to your characters, his real enemy, instead wasting his attacks on the summoned creatures (the poor buggers!!! :D ).

Still, this encounter is simply way too easy whatever you do. It probably wouldn´t even be that hard if you were soloing, but then again the final battle wasn´t much harder.

This encounter can be a b1tch for soloers, since Irenicus really likes to Maze stuff. Once I saw him coming at me, I kept my distance (Boots of Speed) and pelted him with Melf's Minute Meteors. They wouldn't do much, but every 5 or so, I'd get a hit with Crom in (at range!). :D After one regular hit and a critical(!) he went down.

I suppose you could lead him around the Tree for all eternity, thus expiring all his precious protections without ever lifting a finger in his direction.

Oh, but isn't Irenicus easy enough with using cheese?
It's pretty easy, I mean just go kill a dragon, get laid.

Now that's a love poem if I ever heard one.

After disposing off the elemental guardians of the last parasite, I had my wizard slayer start wacking at Irenicus... he won't get red but the significant number of wacks he received would affect his future spell casting. Prior to eliminating the last parasite (which is just a click away), I had my Hakeshar and planetar ready at the wings.

The rest, well, is elementary... :D

If it's not incredibly fast, can see the invisible, has some un-disruptable abilities, regenerates tons of Hit Points and is good in melee, it's probably an easy victory... Irenicus is no exception.
