Sensate Amulet or Amulet of Power?

Post by Mini Me »

Which should I use on my cleric? i cant decide....
does the power amulet make you take longer to cast, or shorten the time in between spells?

It means you cast spells faster. Just like sword speeds and armor ratings the lower the number the faster or stronger they are. So a spellcasting speed of 5 is longer than a speed of 4. So a decrease in speed is really an increase in speed because they are refering to their backward rating system. Clear as mud, right? Since the Sensate Amulet can only be worn by clerics you might better employ the Amulet of Power by equipping a mage with it. Overall the Amulet of Power is a much better item.

that depends on what people you have in your party.

if you have a mage (all parties have a mage right?) give him(her) the amulet of power and your cleric the sensate amulet. if you dont have a mage (can be done, i tried it once) give your cleric the amulet of power as it is far superior IMO.

The amulet of power decreases spellcasting time making them faster to cast.

The Amulet of Power is far better. I've always given it to the primary mage or cleric in my party, depending upon the circumstances of battle. If I'm facing the living, the mage keeps it (and let's face it, there are a lot more living than undead in most sections of BG2). But if the undead are planning to feast on my bones, the amulet gets tossed to my cleric.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

my main mage is edwin so that problem is solved (i cant remove his amulet)...its a bit annoying that i wasted 20k on the sensate though :( i only sold it back for 4200
oddly, the amulet of power only sells for 150...

a few more things...

a cleric can use the mace of disruption +2 or rune hammer, upgraded, both of which offer negative plane protection, and a cleric can also wear the speed mail from the underdark which does the same thing as the amulet of power....decrease spell casting speed.

the sensate is also great for a cleric because a cleric gets demon summoning spells faster than a mage, so the cleric will find very convient a perminent protection from evil...also if your protagonist is the cleric, the charisma bonus will help dealing with merchants.. :p

I tried to summon a demon with a cleric who had the Sensate amulet, but he got attacked as if he didn't have any protection from evil on him... anyone else experienced this?
