The wonderful world if Theifdom?

Post by Etherial »

Now, I'm starting up a new character in ToB, and like most, I'm goin to make him a Half Elf thief that will mostly be using missle weapons (think of him as something of an Archer that steals stuff), and i was thinking which kit would be best. I mean, they all seem to be particularly good, however, I've the most (positive) experience with the Swashbuckler, as I find the whole proccess of backstabbing to be too dangerous and involved to pull off effectively...

Not like you can BS a Lich or any high level, low HPed, magic-user anyways...

The AC, THAC0, and Damage bonuses all appeal to me but I'm just not sure, I mean, I've also had good experiences with Bounty Hunters (Yoshimo in SoA), and so... Yeah, I'm going to ask you, the board of more experienced players, for advice.

i myself prefer swashbuckler over the others because the extra thief skill dont deem much at first but later they make a diffrence

5 extra point times forty thats 200. and the assasin its 400 extra. so instead of not having those skill you can detect invisble or be better at picking pockets.

and you get extra to hit and damage + if you need to meele once in a while you can put two points in your weapon of choice

EDIT: if you put more than 250 points in a skill you get an extremly low skill level.

A pc doesn't have to be the best, most effective or the most powerful to be fun. The thiefkit I enjoyed most of all was the assassin, even though he doesn't get a lot of thiefskills.

Of course, if you're into missileweapons you could also go for the archer.

Eh, Archers can't steal stuff! And I tend toward evil characters anyways where a failed pickpocket doesn't matter that much.

Eh-heh! Just an excuse to go peasant-huntin'!

'Oi! Get your hand out of my pocket!'
"Uh oh..."
'You some fairy dressed in all that black leather?!'
"What?!"
'Fairy-boy! Fairy-boy!'
"Right, I'll do you for that!"
'Ooh! Do me, huh?'
"That wasn't what I meant, and you know it!"
'Of course, elf-boy... What'cha gonna do? Prance around me while pickin' flowers?'
*nocks his Crossbow of Searing*
'Ooh, well isn't that just a phallic shaped obje-AUGH! IT BURNS!'

Ah, if only that was actualy playable dialogue... Too bad the sauciest peasant I've ever encountered (and subsequentlly killed on a whim), wasn't nearly as funny and/or comically homophobic...
