Favorite quotes from characters, anyone?

Post by Galuf the Dwarf »

Well, I couldn't think of anything better to write for a thread at this point, so I'd thought I'd post this.

For me, I'd have to say:

Minsc -
"Feel the backhand of Justice!!"
"Jump on my sword while you can, evil. I won't be as gentle!!"
(incomplete) "Keldorn, you have the courage of a thousand heroes!"
"All will fall to wrath of Minsc and Boo! All will fall!! All will fal-RAAAGH!!!"

Keldorn -
"And you, Minsc, have the strength of a thousand knights!"
(incomplete, ToB)"Tell me then, do you require the service of an old paladin?"
(to Yoshimo, incomplete) "Be careful what you may say, Yoshimo. The gods may turn you into a pumpkin, or some such."

Korgan -
"Aye, the dwarf will bloody do it!"
"Aerie, Aerie!! I swear by me grand-da's coal cart that ye were one o' them fey elves!"

Yoshimo -
"Ah yes, the city, with all its people and their accumulated wealth, yes?"
"Hiiiii - ya!! Heh, the tourists love that stuff."

Edwin -
"Edwin do this, Edwin do that. Somebody get this jerk a banana!"

Jan -
"You sound like Golodon."
"(burps) Pardon. Turnip reflex."
(his tales about all his uncles and such)
"You know, this reminds of that time, waaaaay back..."
"You know, we make an excellent team, like Drizzt and Wulfgar. Elminster and Volo!" (forgot the rest)

If anybody cares to add some, or correct the incomplete phrases, please do so at your convenience. ;)

Minsc
(Incomplete) "A kick to the prunes of our freindship!"
Itch. It itches to feel you cleave to the song of my mettle,
to yield and surrender in nearly every way;
if not in all the important ways.

Anything he says in his conversations is funny too.

Cespenar:

Jan: "Yes yes, standard tactic that."

Jaheira: "Yes oh omnipresent authority figure"

Minsc: "Jump on my sword..." (Everybody loves that!)

Aerie: "If... I... must."

IIRC, its "with helm's might!" and "I'm sure all manner of stupid mousetrap await our toes in the dark"

I have not completed the game yet, but so far the funniest thing I heard was at the very beginning of the game.
Just as you are freeing Minsc from his cell, you get a chance to ask him how he went about hiding Boo from the guards, and Emoen says something about "I don't even want to think about where he hid it, thats sick ...."
Or something along those lines.
Maybe it is just my sick sense of humour, but I near died laughing at that one ....

The best i've seen must be when Jan and Viconia starts talking and Jan says he's deaf... "I read lips *sob* ...only lips"
I can't remember the whole dialog, but it's making laugh every time :D

maybe someone else have it here?
"The voices in my head are all quiet today, I think they are trying to drive me insane"

"I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet."

Reading Lips and Biffle Chump

Here is the dialog you refer to, it leads into the story about Biffle Chump the hapless drow:

Jan: My brother, Elgar Buttercup, had skin the shade of charcoal, too. Well, technically it WAS charcoal. He died in a nasty fire, you see.

Viconia: You do love the sound of your own voice, don't you gnome?

Jan: My own voice? Heartless wench! Do you not know? I am deaf. I have never heard the sound of my own voice. I read lips... (sob)... only lips...

Viconia: Deaf? Truly? In the Underdark the deaf are killed or used in pain threshold experiments.

Jan: I heard that! In fact, it reminds me of the time I was eaten by an avatar of Lolth. I was stuck inside her stomach with a miserable drow called Biffle Chump for days. Of course, I was forced to eat him. A matter of survival, you understand. Nothing personal. He tasted a bit like chicken.

Viconia: <CHARNAME>, how is it that you travel with such a wee buffoon?

Oh yes, and then there's Jan's line when you rescue him (bale him out or pay the jailor to release him), he has this whole thing about Turnip stew when you say that you wish to rescue Imoen. It goes something like this.

Jan: "Ah, yes! The plot thickens! Like a bowl of turnip stew, if I do say so myself. Aunt Mabel (to my best memory) said that it thickens the most if you leave it out for a month, though that was recently shortened to a week. Really captures its natural flavor at that time, too."

Then, of course, I also like some of your dialogue options for NPC-to-PC dialogues, especially ones for the Aerie romance and from Minsc as well. *chuckles at the thought of it* :D

I don't remember the details, but letting Minsc talk to a certain pirate is the dialogue that has made me laugh the most. "Where is your parrot? All pirates have a parrot."

Another funny bunch of dialogue is between Minsc & Jan regarding Boo.

Maybe I'll try a run through with Minsc, Jan, & Anomen. That should make for a pretty funny game.

*chuckles* Yup, those remind of grand times in the game (though I hadn't heard the Edwin one, to tell the truth, I heard of his envy over the Sage of Shadowdale himself)

Couple ones I like:

Minsc, when talking to the boy in the Government disctrict:
"I would not trust him farther than I could throw him, even if I could throw him pretty far, and throw him I shall!"

Edwin, when talking with Viconia about something:
"I assure you Viconia, this Thayvian is as red blooded as his cloak, and has left many a concubine gasping under his erotic onslaught."
"Game Balance" is getting all players to complain equally.

My favourit:

At some point, Korgan says to Mazzy:

"Be aware, Mazzy, I've something long, hard and low to the ground ye're free to touch and fondle. Child, no need to glare! 'Twas me axe I were referring to"

:D Go Korgie! I don't know Mazzy's reply anymore, sorry!

And Korgan to Viconia (ToB):

"The only time I stand downwind of a dark elf is when I'm looking to add to my collection of drow ears. But dannae worry, ye dark witch, yer tim will come"

Korgan also says something to Viconia abou dragging drows into bushes but I can't remember it.

IMO the funniest dialogs are given to the evil characters.
Edwin especially has funny ones, but unfortunatly I cant enjoy them much, because I play goody good party's.

Another favorite of mine is the sharp dialog between Dhalis and Jaheira, when they enter Waukeens Promenade. Dhalis says something like;
"Ahh my raven, this 'll be the great city of commerce! Why dont we sell Jaheira??"
Then a great, though less funny, dialog kicks in.

However, I shall play the game again to find some funny dialogs. For there are many to find :D :p

Any idea which character says this? I believe it was Valygar.

"For one who's the son of a God of death, you seem more like a hyperactive squirrel with a death wish and a sugar high."

It was something to that matter.

Here are a few other funny ones I just scrounged from memory.

Cespenar: "Dum-dee-dum-dum. Ooh, shower curtain! Oh is only a cloak. Nasty pattern, that."

"Wow! That one hot club! You hit bad guy right in the kisser, and POW! Straight to da moon!" (incomplete)

"What's this? You only have one glove? What is you, a rock star or something? Oh, here other glove." (Humorously referring to Michael Jackson, of course)

Sarevok: "What if we were to travel back to Baldur's Gate together? What would the people say? *laughs evilly*
