hmm i edited that to say i got it sorted. How strange. Anyway i worked everything out now...we realised it was the firewall, and i couldnt host because my friend had to access my computer so we took the firewall down and got MSBlast within about a minute :) so we have spent the rest of the day fixing that.

That sucks! I take it you didn't D/L the upgrade?

BTW - depending on your firewall, you probably could have let BG access the net without taking it down (Zone Alarm, for example, prompts when any program wants to access the interenet...)

yes we told it to allow access, but then my friend couldnt connect to it? maybe because they needed to access my computer. So we tried with my friend hosting and i couldnt connect...same problem. Oh well maybe we will have a LAN-fest sometime :)

If you're running firewalls, you'll need to open the ports that BG2 uses for MP communication. I don't know what they are off hand
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.
