Back from the Netherlands

Post by fable »

Hi. This is actually Leva, one of the two cats that own fable and his wife. You'll be happy to hear that the pair of those lousy grifters returned late on Friday, without buying Forint and me anything, from the Netherlands. They seemed pretty healthy, all in all, and pleased they'd made it through customs so quickly. The last two days we've only let them out to hit Indian buffets.

In a way it's too bad they're back. The pet sitters we'd arranged to serve us (they gave us the money fable left for them, the fools) left out tons of kibble all day. But now we're back on twice-a-day feedings, and both of them mutter about how Forint's gotten a fat butt. Looks like its diet time.

What?!!!

...no complaints about the products of the posterior orifice of your alimentary canal? :D

Kindly tell your Babylonian God of a master that we're glad they're back safe. :)

Tell him too that it will be my turn to get to meet a certain Swedish Goddess pretty soon. ;)

I'm certain she'll blind me with Science. :D

So is pretending to be a cat a better or worse state than we were expecting fable to be in returning from Amsterdam?

It's all good. That's just a side effect of smoking stuff other than tobacco (hey he was in Holland after all...). It'll probably wear off in a couple of hours. ;)

Welcome back Fabulous, what did you and your wife do after we had met? :)

Must be a case of unusually bad jet lag :D

@IHateUsernames: I think it's with the drugs as with the prostitution: you find it if you are looking for it (and sometimes without looking) but if you don't want to find it, it's not difficult to avoid it either.

@fabster, Your love of the Halfling's leaf has clearly slowed your mind. :p
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I don't use weed, dope, drugs, etc. Well, catnip. Occasionally. But only when fable wants to see me go to pieces. He's such a sap.

So is pretending to be a cat a better or worse state than we were expecting fable to be in returning from Amsterdam?

And you're the guy fable wants to adopt? Can't you tell the difference between a fured quadruped, and a slumming biped deity who can't figure out a 15% tip in what passes for his head?

Forint and I have relatives in your part of the world. Expect to find hairballs on your food in the near future.

I apologize for Leva's comments in this thread. He apparently joined Assertive Cats, Incorporated while we were out of town, and decided to make his opinions known. I can't vouch that he won't return, but I'll do everything I can to keep his paws off the keyboard.

Jan and I visited Den Haag, Haarlem and Leyden. We saw plenty of Old Masters--in fact, I had to stop Jan wanting to see every museum of Old Masters in all three cities, and Amsterdam--and we saw a lot of great architecture. Took in a few concerts, bicycled about a bit, tried to avoid tourist crowds. The Netherlands is a pretty heavily developed, Westernized nation. The only real adventure you can find is trying to close your eyes and not end up walking into a MacDonald's. :(

The only remotely challenging thing we did was take a tour of the manmade limestone caves under Maastricht, in part with no lantern: absolutely dark. Not a speck of light. Our guide wanted to show us what it must have been like for a pair of eleven year olds who traveled down there twelve years ago without letting anybody know, got lost, and had their light give out. They were discovered dead three weeks later, having supposedly survived about 7-10 days. (The caves have been mined for limestone and used as both a smuggler's den and a safe haven during wartime, since 1259 ACE. It consists of more than 1200 caves, all told representing more than 150 miles.)

Jan wouldn't do it; she has a touch of claustrophobia. Our guide went on with her, and I tried it with two young Spanish women. We linked arms, and kept a hand on the opposing walls. It still felt a little like I'd get smacked in the face any second, the darkness was so thick. :D

In all, the Netherlands was fun. We enjoyed meeting the two of you, and wish we could only have done more. :)

Must be a case of unusually bad jet lag :D

Lag, and work awaiting us both when we returned. But we're back in form, now.

Welcome Back fable !!!

Thanks, @Scayde! Good to be back. And to see the rest of you, too. :)

From the desk of Leva the cat...

I don't do television, and the ancient canard refuses to watch it, anyway. I play the gangsa, a gamelan instrument. Why sing when you can bust eardrums for miles around and keep your throat intact?

I don't know what you mean. Surely if anyone in the world has a cat that can type, it would be Fable. Especially with the help of a little divine intervention. Ye of little faith. :D

@Fable welcome back... you didn't really expect to find many adventures in Holland, did you? Sounds like you had a very cultural time though, I'm sure you enjoyed it. ;)

@Kayless good call :D
