Getting a demon heart !

Post by Yann »

I am now in the games version of hell, to get a demon heart, which I need to activate the planar sphere.

I have been here for quite a long time and I have tried many different ways for killing the demon, without success.

I have used spells, different types of arrows, conjured monsters etc, etc, etc...... I just can't seem to be quick enough to get the demon.

I am sure the solution is simple, but I haven't come upon it yet.

Any suggestions ?

can you tell us who are in your party and what level? That would help suggest a plan of action..

you're probably having problems with the demon's death gaze...cast free action...use skeleton warriors...

For fighting demons it could be that you have to use +3 or better weapons, if you can hurt the demon that is not a problem, otherwise there is.

Now, I usually make the following preparations:

Stoneskin and mirror image for my mage
Let Anomen cast protection from evil 10 radius, speed up your party and give them eventually chant and or aid.

Try to summon as much creatures as able, who can distract the demon and sent them in first.

Hope this helps

Probably the wrong answer, but "You shouldn't be going there from here..."

That seems like a very low-level party - what's V. doing at lvl 5???

Maybe you should restore back a bit, do a few of the low-level quests & build yourself up for another go?

Apart from that, use your scout(s) well! Demons, etc. are pretty good at Seeing Invisible, but once you have them spotted you can run away, then plan a proper attack with the whole party...

Wish I had a decent sig...

Use Jaheira to summon creatures. Let them engage the demon at melee. Try using Melf's Meteors on the demon. Do you have any other items, like Ring of the Ram, which can administer magical damage at a distance? If so, use these, as well.

For what it's worth, Knowledge of Alignments is one of the most worthless spells in the game. You might try backtracking a bit, and relearning more Magical Missiles and Chromatic Orbs, Webs, Blurs, etc.

I hope not an 11th level Sorc, not with those choices. Still, you can always use an editor to remove some spells, and substitute others, I suppose.

I am realizing that my spell choice seems to be quite bad. How do I go about changing spells without starting over from an earlier save.

I thank you all for your advice , it has been very helpful so far.

Well..

If your character is a Mage, it's no sweat - just swap spells out, rest, and you're gold. If you're a Sorceror, well, it's a bit more difficult. I honestly wouldn't play with a Sorceror the first time around - any pen & paper experience will mislead you, and the spell selection is fairly tricky.

If you really want to be a sorceror, Read Xyx's Spell Guide and check some of the Sorceror spell lineup discussion threads here first, then either restart your game :( or use an editor like Shadowkeeper to adjust your spells.

PS - welcome to Game Banshee!
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.
