Shortsword of Backstabbing

Post by DraySkullan »

I just read about this sword, and it says youre supposed to get it for defeating MaeVar from Renal Bloodscalp. I didnt get it, and being a swashbuckler w/ no backstab bonus, it sounds pretty cool. What's up with that?

If your character is a thief (or multi/thief) and you accept Maevars guild as your stronghold, you don't get the sword. If you are NOT a thief, then Renal gives you the sword, it's weird I know. If you ARE a thief, you can turn down the guild and he will give you the sword.

edit BTW: it's just a +3 short sword, it doesn't backstab any better other than being +3, that's just what it's called - I find the blade of roses +3 longsword to be better for backstabbing or maybe a katana.

ahh, but won't you feel cool backstabbing with a sword called "short sword of backstabbing"? almost as cool as cutting someone's throat with a sword called "cutthroat".

I took a Cleric/Thief (Multi Class)

and damn was i disappointed that i cannot backstab.

Actually i even suspect that using a mace to backstab is weird.

But is there a weapon that can backstab yet usable by the cleric class?

But the short sword of backstabbing does have a pleasant glow about it. I can't recal any other short swords in SoA that had a glow of some kind. And for a short sword, +3 is pretty ass kicky.
