Problems with Harpers

So, after leaving the Elven camp I met some Jaheira's dear friends.. And no matter how nice I talk, they attack anyway! It didn't happen the last time I played the game.. So what's wrong? Have I done something different, or is it just some kind of a bug or something?

If I kill them, do I have to face more Harpers later? It seems I have no choice... *sigh*

I think you may need to be a little more specific here. If it's the one I'm thinking about, where a bunch of Harper hunters track you and Jaheira down and you have the chance to reveal that you're a Bhaalspawn, then it's definately possible to avoid the conflict. It may however have something to do with reputation and alignment as well as your previous actions towards the Harpers. I couldn't tell you for sure, but from what I remember when Jaheira told them that I was a Bhaalspawn, they backed down, and I think it was because I was known for being a good guy.

I could be wrong though.

Um, not especially. There's plenty of better ways to get loot than selling rather boring +1 or +2 bog-standard stuff.

You can avoid a fight with the Harpers if your Reputation is 16 or higher by choosing the dialogues that say, "Tell her what I am if it will help your case, Jaheira. I will not keep secrets that can harm you," and "Stand down your weapons, Jaheira. We need not shed any blood here today." This only works if Jaheira is in your party.
