Haer'Dalis (same bug, new trigger) [SPOILER]

Post by Duskey »

Here's my story. I rescue Haer'Dalis from the evil cluthes of the mage in the sewers be retrieving the mirror from his former imp. HD tells me of the gem and the Five Flagons Inn (note that I have not yet been to the bridge district) I find the gem, go to the in, but as soon as I enter, the characters in there disappears and I can't do nothing. I'd hate to miss a quest or reload since I've had HD tag along for some adventures...

if you fetch the gem and then reform party and remove Haer'Dalis before starting the second part of the quest, you'll lose and the quest just like it happened to me ....

you need to bring him on your own to the pub in order to start it

Are you saying that I should ditch the gem (AKA leave it outside) ???

I didn't kick him out, but I did kick another NPC out of the party between finding the gem and going to the five flagons...

best way to do it is once u have him in group and the gem, run to the pub to activate the quest, and then you can do whatever u want with haer'dalis
this plan is no big deal if you misss it really

I'd try to keep the quest. First, because it's one of the few in SoA that's really, truly challenging, and second because one of the rewards is a pair of haste boots. You can even outrun mind flayer brainsucks with those. :D

So what should I do to make the people come back?

Which people did disappear ?
If it are those in the very first romm when you go downstairs, that is supposed to happen, you must talk with Raelis Shai in the room behind the stage.

My bad, it works. I just quit as soon as the people disappeared right when I walked in. The astral prison is actually kinda hard!

It works this way:
If you had not heard about Haer'Dalis before and go to the theater Raelis Shai asks for adventurers after the cutscene with "Biff" as replacement for Haer Dalis.
If you have already freed Haer'Dalis and go there there is no reason for the play to take place, so all people just disappear ;)

It's not so much a matter of being hard, IMO, as it is of requiring a level of strategy that is almost nowhere else needed in SoA. :D Face it, the threats that are shown at you and the AI they use are almost revoltingly easy. Usually, sheer force, magical and/or physical, is all that's needed in a frontal assault to deal with any problems that arise. This is why the Prison dimension is so difficult--not because it truly is difficult, but because it comes out of nowhere and makes us think.
