Creating Magic Items I DON'T HAVE THE BOOKS

Hey I am new to the third edition of D& D and a big fan of the old D&D... but i am liking the new system... However creating Magic items... i have played with it but can't seem to do more than just make the items +1 or +2 or +3... now is it all lvl based? I have been trying to Add Keen and Flaming to a Masterwork Short sword... and all i can do is just the + numbers... not able to do anything below the +3 ... Can someone who understands this new system tell me how to do it???

oh and yes i did do a search on the subject...

some one sent me an email explaining a few things to me... DUHHHHHHHH... am i stupid... LOL... thanks guys

What do you mean, you don't have the books? The manual is pretty straightfoward about what sort of things you can create, and your choices are rather obvious.

Not having the books....

I have the disks but not the books... Long story and you don't want to really know about a fight... a break up and a move to North Carolina... just sufice to say i don't have the manuals...
just the one on the disks....

Nope still not working I have the Lvls and the Spells...

Ok i am lvl 6 and I have the spell greater Magic weapon and the Flare spell... I should be able to make Flaming weapons right???

But isn't that the full manual on the disks?

If it is i can't find the danged thing

Ok i have read the manual all 100 pages of it... i can't get my Wizard to enchant an item with Flaming or Shock... I have lvl 6, I have the spell greater Magic weapon... I have the spell Flare what am i missing? i Have a tone of money and tons of xp to spend... or is it not enough exp?

Do you have the craft weapon feat?
If so is the type of weapon you try to make on the list?

Could be that you dont have enough XP to spend. AFAIK you can only spend the points gained since your last level-up.

List of what i have what am i missing

Ok have craft Arms and armour feat...
Craft wonderous Item....(really needed to make weapons?)
Have Spells... Shock, (for electical bonus,) Flare for fire, Greater Magic Weapon... what am i missing... Oh and a ton of xp... like 27000 xp so bit from leveling to next lvl but well over my present lvl... so if someone could clue me in that would be great... Maybe i am missing some small thing and i just can't figure it out.

Creating

I may be having the same problem or not.If I give some sword or hamer +1+2+3 I cant add shock or flame as if something is blocking the cursor.The enchatment shows these in highlight but won't allow the extra ability.I was able to create a hamer+1+2+frost but I am using the frostbrand I found in the temple dungeons to better effect.This might be a bug.

You need to be level 8.
I just got to 8 and bingo, it can be selected.
Now back to the game to make some scrummy things....

Great now just to find a way to kill that stupid Jugguernaut and then I will most likely make enough xp to get to lvl 8 SWEEET... Dang thing is almost impossible to kill... but mark my words IT WILL DIE!!!!!!!

Kill the minions with a few fireballs through the door before you go in.
Only send hard people with Rockskin into H2H with the Juggernaut, and pound it with MM.

It took me three goes at level 6 or 7
