How to use the work bench

Post by humanflyz »

I have a blaster rifle that I have all the components need to upgrade. After I click on each component and click on "assemble", nothing happens. So how does one use the work bench?

When you click on the workbench and you get the four options (lightsabre, gun, melee, armor) and select the pistol (ranged) you should see a list of your upgradeable weapons.

Click (or double click maybe) on the weapon you want to upgrade... at the bottom of that screen should be four "sockets" that you can put power-ups into. Unfortunately, it seems like a given weapon can only use a powerup ONE way. That is, what might give a +1 damage when put in Gun-A instead gives +1 to hit in Gun-B... but, an upgrade is an upgrade.

Just click on the "holes" and they should fill with little icons of the upgrades. When you're happy, click Assemble and you should hear a little click-whirring and then be back at the gun-selection screen of the update menu. VOILA! Your gun is updated! :)

Yes, I've tried that, and here's the problem:

When I click on "assemble" and hear the clicking noise. Then I click on the weapon that I supposedly upgraded, I see the same components in the window, as if none of them were used. That's the part where I am confused about? SHouldn't the components be gone cause I've used them?

No, the components aren't "used up"... you can take them out, Assemble the weapon again (without any components) and then use those components in a DIFFERENT weapon.

If you look at the stats of the weapon in your inventory window, they might start at, like, 4 - 7 damage and then after you add the powerups they will shift to, say, 9 - 14 damage. That's where you'd see the effect of the powerup.

Unfortunately, a +1 damage on Gun-1 may be a +1 to hit on a different gun ---- the bonus is dependent on the gun, not on the upgrade itself (I think). So a "mesh underlay" will do different things to different pieces of armor, for example. But you can use that one, single mesh underlay in whichever piece of upgradeable armor that you want.
