ilunibi and sixth house quest for casius

Post by foxen2 »

Have reached the area of Soul's Rattle in Ilunibi, but can't continue because of missing file. The message is: "Sound file not found: data files\sounds\FX\spirits.wav" Unable to get past it by clicking yes to continue. Finally have to click on no and get dumped to desktop.

When I do a file search, the file shows up. Would sure appreciate any help anyone can give me so I can complete the quest.

Check the file permissions and what-not on it.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Thanks Sojourner.
Don't know what you mean by "file permissions". Looked at the properties and changed from "archive" to "read only", but that didn't solve the problem.
Keep killing the monsters from a distance, with the bow of shadows, but as soon as I try to approach closer to where the bodie are, it gives the same error message.
Can you advise what else I can do?
Thanks again....Foxen2

Hm - what mods do you have installed? I'm thinking one of them is causing your problem.

Make a backup copy of your saved games, uninstall the game and reinstall it. Your saved games should still be there but make a backup copy to be safe. Don't forget to reload any patches. Hopefully the saved game isn't corrrupted, just some sound files.

Hate to admit it, but have way too many mods installed. At least 31. Tried removing some, but have no way to tell which one is causing the problem.
Will try your suggestion UncleScratchy and see if that will work.

Thanks for all the help.

Am still unable to complete this quest.

Tried your suggestion UncleScratchy and did a clean re-install, but it still crashes as above.

Also have discovered another Ilunibe. This one is near Gnar Mok close to Khartg Point called "Ilunibe, Carsass of the Saint".

It is exactly the same as the other Ilunibe and even freezes at the same spot.

Am tired of trying to solve this. Does anyone know if this quest is nessesary to complete the game? If not, I'll just go on and forget about it. At this point, Caius will not give me any new duties, just says I need to complete this one.

Could there be a console fix to make Caius think it's completed?

Help! and thanks....Foxen2

Are you saying that you found Illunibi in a location other than Gnaar Mok? The one and only Illunibi that should be in your game is the one near Gnaar Mok and Khartag Point. If you somehow entered a "duplicate" Illunibi elsewhere then your game must be seriously messed up. While reloading and dumping the extra mods may have reset the game itself your saved game may now be corrupted.

Major Spoiler (highlight to read): Illunibi is a major quest needed to complete the game following the Blades/Neravarine story line. You are supposed to confront and kill Dagon Gares in there. Gares (an ash ghoul) will give you a warning from Dagoth Ur and as a present infects you with Corprus disease. When you go back to Caius he will send you off to Tel Fyr to find a cure for corprus. Once cured your char is forever immune to all types of diseases.

Now for an even bigger spoiler. You can completely bypass all the Blades quests that lead you to become the Neravarine. This is something I discovered on my own and later confirmed by others. If you play until you are something like level 70 or 80 and do almost all the quests, especially the Temple quests, you will run into some people that will tell you that the high prelate of the temple in Vivic wants to see you. When you visit the prelate he will tell you that Lord Vivic wants an audience with you. Vivic will give you all the background and an item you need to kill Dagoth Ur. When I did this route by accident I had only done the Blades quests up to where I was supposed to enter the ancient burial chambers of the Urshilaku and retrieve the bow. Something I never did. Instead I stumbled on the Temple of the Incarnate and got Azura's Ring of the Neravarine from the goddesses statue. I'm not sure you have to get this ring at all (its a dippy ring that only the Neravarine can wear and fortifies personality and speechcraft). I think you only need to be a very high level char with high reputation who has completed a lot of quests. In fact I completely skipped all the other Neravarine tests/quests and while talking with the Redoran Councilor Sarethi in Ald-ruhn he told me that the head of the temple wanted to see me urgently. I never contracted Corprus disease doing it this way. After talking to Vivic I was unable to do anymore of the Blades quests (same as your predicament) but it didn't matter. This may be one way to work around the glitch you've encountered. The other back door method is to break into Lord Vivic's chamber, kill him and take a certain dwarven guantlet from him. You will have to find a way to use that guantlet as it must be worn to kill Dagoth Ur. Finally you might be able to use the console to change your journal entry to show the Illunibi quest as completed but I can't advise you on that procedure. Personally I would start over or try my first back door suggestion.
Good luck.

Or delete all of your mods and try that, or disable sounds in the menu. If your sound isn't on, then you should be alright.

To Uncle Scratchy

Major spoiler as well.

Like I did, all i went up to was getting immunity from all of the diseases then i killed vivec for wraithguard and went to yagrum barnum and he enchanted it for me. Then I beat the game. Its much easier. Vivec should die anyway because he betrayed you.

Thanks for all the help.

Went back to a former save and played thru to the proper Ilunibi but game froze at the same spot.

Will try one more time to find a game that is not corrupted. Or even one with no Mods installed.

Wish I knew which Mod(s) caused the problem as some of them were very good. Perhaps it was just too many running at once?

Think the only solution will be to start over with a new character.

Am going to start over completely. This time won't add too many mods.
With the tricks I've learned so far, the game should progress faster.
Thanks again!
