What is the best armor?

Post by Darth Anubis »

What do you think is the best armor? I'd say GenoHaradan Mesh Armor for high DEX people, Revan's Robes or Starforge Robes for Force users, and a combination of Cassius Fett's Heavy Armor and Mandalorian Assault Armor for strong guys (Fett's normally, Mandalorian against Sith and stuff because of the 25% electric defense)

I didn't get too far, but i really liked the armor from that bounty hunter Malak sends after you. With the upgrades it had a nice 12 AC, +1 dext, mind immunity and some neat resistances. but i only had 2 star maps at that point in the game so no doubt there is better later on :)

Yea I like Calo Nord's armor for Carth which really makes it unnecessary to buy any armor including Fett's. I also liked the upgradable light armor from Taris apartment puzzle for Mission.

Star Forge robes are the best but you dont get them til the end. The Qel Droma (?) robes found on Korriban are almost as good.

Qel'Droma robes are okay, but those are only for Light Side users.

My favorite armors:

**Responses contain Spoilers:**

There are several great armors in the game, and most of them are absolutely free.

My favorites for canderous:

Calo Nord's Battle Armor
- You get it early in the game.
- Immunity from mind affecting attacks and critical hits.
- resistance to cold and heat damage.

Cassus fett's Armor
- One of the best protective armors in the game, it's really expensive, though.
- +1 strength (I usually make Canderous a swordsman

Verpine Zal Alloy Mesh
- Found on unknown world after defeating mandalorians for warleader Garn
- Nice protection and looks really cool on Canderous.

Mandalorian Assault Armor
- Taken from dead body of Mandalorian Leader on unknown world.
- This is one of the coolest looking armors in the whole game. It's a shame that you don't get it earlier.

With the exception of Calo Nord's armor, be sure to equip either an implant against mind-affecting attacks or a stabilizer or vacuum mask and Canderous will be unstoppable.

Favorites for Carth:

Darth Bandon's Fiber Armor
- Pried from the dead body of the Sith Lord
- Light armor which allows Carth to use his Dex Mod
- Immunity from mind affecting attacks
- Looks really cool on Carth

Genoharradan Fiber Armor
- This is found on the body of Hulas after you whip his ass on Tattooine
- Great light armor
- Boosts Dexterity which is great for Carth

I never use Mission. If I did I'd give her the Genoharradan fiber armor of the echani fiber armor.

The jedi are pretty straightforward.

Light side: Jedi Master or Quel Droma Robes (Korriban)

Dark Side: Dark Jedi knight or Dark Jedi Master Robes (Manaan)

Armors that look cool but suck:
Cinnagar war suit
Krath Holy Battle Armor

Jedi Knight robes suck from either side. Calo Nord's is pretty good when you get it, but it is bettered by the other armors.

Cassius Fett's really is only good if the user concentrates on Strength. If the user isn't on strength, than he is probably on wisdom or dexterity. If he's on wisdom, then he uses force powers and won't be able to use the armor anyway. Which leave the character with dexterity. Cassius Fett's armor is absolutely terrible on characters with high dexterity.

I have no idea what is on the Jedi in the first picture, I never played with females. Same with the second one, I can't tell what it is when they are shaped wierd. I don't think the first one is in the Xbox version though.

** Light spoilers follow **

Both screenshots were taken on the Yavin space station, and both armours are Yavin-bought armours. The first is the heavy exoskeleton, the second is the environmental Bastion armour.

Assuming you don't have access to Yavin, Cassus Fett's battle armour is easily the best suit of armour in the game, regardless of how much dexterity you have. It's defense 14 fully upgraded. The maximum dexterity bonus available on a piece of armour is 5 for the better light armours (discounting Jedi robes - Jedi will usually want to use robes irregardless). The highest base defense available on a non-Yavin piece of light armour is 7. Fully upgraded, Bandon's fiber armour offers a maximum of 12 defense assuming the wearer has dexterity 20.

Calo Nord's battle armour is roughly equivelent to the second best armour in the game, and is exceptional because of how early you obtain it (and for free, at that). With defense 12 fully upgraded and a +1 dexterity bonus, it'll trump whatever light armour you care to compare it to, and it offers some of the best mods of any armour in the game (immunity to mind-affecting and critical hits, cold/fire/sonic DR 10).

Other excellent armours include the Verpine Zal alloy mesh, the Mandalorian assault armour (which has a cold/fire DR 25, but not lightning) and Jamah Hogra's battle armour.

Wrong. Cassius Fett's Assault Armor is terrible on high-dexterity characters, about as helpful as another armor of only a few hundred credits.

Jamah Hogra's is ok, and Calo Nord's is only good when you have nothing better, and only since it's free... if I had to buy it, I wouldn't bother.

You also forgot the GenoHaradan Mesh Armor.... excellent with Dexterity, it adds a ton.

What? The GenoHaradan mesh armour offers the same defense as Bandon's fiber armour. 7 base, 5 dexterity bonus. 12. I've already provided the statistics for all the armour pieces, you just have to read them.

Yes, but that bonus doesn't apply beyond the dexterity bonus limit (5). The most defense you can squeeze out of the armour is still 12. Whereas you get 14 out of Cassus Fett's armour straightoff, without any dexterity dependence.

Trust me, I've tried it. I have Xbox, I had tons of DEX, and Fett's armor might have raised my defense by 1 if any.

Heavy Exo suit is the best armor in my opinion I get with it a 31 defense regulary on my main char with over 300hp. Of course I can not use most of jedi powers with such an suit but there isn´t really a need for it anyway since nothing can resist the high close combat attack for very long

Yes, the Heavy Exoskeleton is one of the miraculous Yavin Station devices available currently only in the PC version. Apparently Yavin Station will soon be available to XBOX owners through XBOX Live. Don't worry, Anubis, you'll get them soon enough!
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious!

I've tested it on both versions and it works exactly as I'd expected. With 21 dexterity, Cassus Fett's gave 14 defense and the GenoHaradan mesh gave 12.
