First group was
Skald (me obviously)
Minsc
Jaheira (tricked her out as a tank (strength belt too))
Yoshimo/Imoen
Aerie
Anomen
Second Group
Fighter (me)
Minsc
Keldorn (with strength belt and carsomyr now)
Jan
Aerie
Nalia
I consider this group to be more "melee heavy" because I have 3 true tanks in it (not multi classed).
This time through has been a breeze compard to the first time. Some of this may be because I learned some from the first trip but I really think that the game tends to favor melee heavy groups.
If I play through again I may switch out nalia for Jaheira. I never really liked her much but now playing wiothout her I am surprised with how much she added to the party.
2nd time through with a "melee heavy" group.
your right i carry amelee heavy group twp and find it very useful but im a different i really prefer only one spell caster
first time-
ranger-me
minsc
keldorn
imoen
mazzy (my favorite and i think best tank, once you get her to stop using short swords)
haer da'lis
now im a tad bigger on spells realizng how important they are
me assasin
minsc
aerie
imoen
haer da'lis
mazzy
i ususally use haerda'lis as abackup fighter, but when hes not spinning or singing his limited spell casting ability, does come in handy if you are all out of magic missiles with ur other mages he can fire one,
and now you must be thinking but how can he cast spells and fight if spellcasters have horrible armor, well my friend that i believe is the only advantage to the blade kit- the defensive spin
okay im gonna shut up now

I like melee groups too, its hard to make up for brute force, and when you get into higher level combats monsters can save alot more vs spells, thats why i like 2 have lots of muscle.
My fav party:
Kensai (dual wielding Eq/Blade of Roses)
Korgan (dual wielding Stonefire/Frostreaver)
Minsc (Dragons Breath or silver sword)
Jaheria (Spear Impaler)
Keldorn (carsomyr what else)
Jan (boneblade or cutter, mostly pierce and breach spells)
Yah theres some probs with korgan's Align but nothing I can't handle, and hes evil he should argue with a paladin.
