Do vampires suck?

Post by Coot »

Has anyone played a vampire for an extended amount of time? Did you like it? What problems did you encounter (except for the obvious ones)?
I understand it's possible, at least theoreticaly, to finish the main quest as a vampire. Has anyone ever done that?
Sojourner spoke about a 'vampire embrace mod'. What does this mod do?

I found vampires quite powerful. With a CE-effect Restore Health Item, I had no problem moving around in daylight. The MAIN drawback in an unmodded game is the inability to complete most quests - which makes it boring. For some unknown reason, the vampire clans are missing some services.

What the Vampire Embrace mod does is enable you to take part in every quest as a vampire (depending on disposition) and access services, as well as create vampire minions. For more powerful vampires, download Scripted Spells at the same link. There are other mods out there, including the Bloodlines mod.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Being able to create vampire minions sounds really neat! Just imagine, having a cadre of vampire cliffracers on your side! :)

The Vampire Embrace mod requires Tribunal though and I don't have that (yet).

Does anybody else have experience playing a vampire?

Its bad enough having them pop up every three steps but do you really want a army of them following your everymove??
Isn't Trueflame the coolest weapon ever?

As long as they're on my side, sure! But then again, cliffracers might not be the best choice. How about mudcrabs? 'Out of my way, evil mage, lest my army of vampire mudcrabs devours you!'

Playing vampires normally w/o mods has its pro's and con's

Pro's:
1) enhanced certain attributes
2) enhanced certain skills
3) immunity to common diseases
and more I can't think off

Con's
1) sun damage
2) weakness to fire
3) most NPC's hate you
4) can't do any nerevarine quests

I am testing my mod that makes vampires lose sun damage but some major attributes are drained like personality. Strength and speed is still acquired but you basically become an ugly vampire.
