Heart of Fury Mode

Post by Tal »

When I completed the game in Normal mode, as I had never played this before (and yes I had a little help from Banshee when trying to complete the Woodfell quests and Dragons Eye Level 4), I didn't know you could some how carry your party forward into "Heart of FURY mode".

I'm wanting the extra weapons and items that are on offer, plus I want to see my characters in Lvl 28 - 30 (if possible).

I currently have the following in my party:

3 Fighters
1 Paladin
1 Rouge
1 Sorcerer

My question is:

I have started a new game AGAIN, with different party members!! AGAIN!. As I read about HoFm, and extra weapons, but I can not carry my characters across. They are currently Lvl 15 / 16, and I know I would stand no chance with Lvl 1 characters in HoFm, so how do you transfer your characters across, with all weapons, feats, hit points etc and starting a new game???

Any information would be great as it is doing my head in.

From my experience, here's how the process goes.

1) Unequip all your characters when you export them. In that case, I mean WIPE THEIR INVENTORY CLEAN.

2) After that, you have to erase all of your save files. You have to start clean and fresh to access HoF mode. All saves, quick-saves, auto-saves, and every other file has GOT TO GO.

3) After selecting HoF mode in the configuration menu, start a new game, and enjoy the rigors of a new game.

Note that I experimented with this, and proved it. This is exactly how I remember accessing it (though only testing with a party that was at about level 12 or 13 each, to tell the truth. My guys almost got massacred at the docks.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for the information.

I will try this.

I loaded a game up and all characters where level 1, and guess what. All my party got butchered like they where little girls by 1 GOBLIN.

I think I got him down to "Barely Injured", so thats a little bonus. :D

Uh, ouch.

Now, if you were to take your Level-15 or 16 characters into HoF mode, imagine how much fun you may have. You'd have some challenge on you, but you may be more capable of surviving. Isn't there fun in that? ;)

Well from what I did, I started with charactors that full on completed the game. Better that way.

You do not have to unequipe your charactors, I know this because I had most of my item and their duplicates, (which were enhanced). Sometimes I would replace an item with its enhanced duplicate or another duplicate or uber item. You can have your invetory block screen full of item, just no holding devises or I beleive quest related items. There may be other querks and qualms about this, I am not sure. You can do a search for other threads on this site with heart of fury as the search string and you will get alot of results. I have one that answers most of these questions, check it out.

2) After that, you have to erase all of your save files. You have to start clean and fresh to access HoF mode. All saves, quick-saves, auto-saves, and every other file has GOT TO GO.

This is not correct either. You can save your old saved games for at least the same charactors. There may be more to this than I know. I have saves, (including autosaves for old game play with the same characors.). You may have to dispose of your quick saves??

Hope this helps.

Hmmm, in my experience you do not need to unequip your characters OR erase your save files.

I just exported my Level 20 characters that finished Normal mode, closed the game, changed the Configuration to Heart of Fury, then restarted the game and imported the characters again and away I went. They kept all their equipment except containers and quest items. So my cleric kept her Every God Ring so still had her enhanced Wisdom etc.

But, yes, those goblins do dish out some hurt.

Another thing I did was introduce a new 1st level character. This brought my team's average XP right down so they were getting 825 per goblin instead of only 100.

Have fun.

Cheers for all the help and info guys, but I saw some thing when selecting / creating new characters. ;)

When scrolling down the list of already made created by myself I noticed 6 IWD2. These are my Fighters (x3), Sorcerer, Druid and Rouge, so I have my characters and I can use them in HoFm no problem. So I'm planning an Icewind Hack to the buggers to death over Christmas. It would be rude not to, and I always try to keep a good Xmas feeling in my house hold.

I will let you know if I get butchered at the docks or survive to another day..

Regards,

:D
