Why can't I use Level 7 spells when i get to level 8?

I'm anoyed..I've completed this game so many times and i have never once used a level 7 or above spell!
They look so cool to use....Even though i am a level 8 mage i still can't use them!
Can someone help me?

if you've completed the game so many times may i ask why you think you can cast lvl 7+ spells at lvl 8??? i haven't played the game for awhile but i do know that you don't get lvl 7+ spells until you're smth like lvl 13 or so... so that's why

you can't even get lvl 6 spells in BG1 and level 5 is only availabel in the expansion and per scrolls..... besides there are no lvl 6 scrolls in BG1

oh yeah....besides the last time i played this was in 1999-2000...i only bought it 2 weeks ago.

So i'm a little confused!
