Running SW-KotOR on Windows 2003 Server

Post by Kaitsuburi »

Just wondering if someone has had experiences running KotOR under Windows 2003 Server (tweaked for workstation use).

actually, I've been playing it this way for about a week and I have to say I'm impressed. It took a little work to tweak it to Workstation but I think there are clear benefits over just using XP. I'm not sure why - though I think there were coding and kernel upgrades to 2003 to increase stability for server use and I think that spills over into my playing experience. I started the game on Monday using XP and I had some bugs, crashes - nothing major but some of the stuff talked about in the forums. Then I installed it in a test system with similar hardware but with 2003 that I was playing. Realized 2003 couldn't run games unless you tweaked it to play well with DirectX and the lot and the game has run flawlessly. No graphical hiccups, no crashes, even left the game running by mistake for an entire day. Came back from work and it was ready to play with no noticeable degradation in speed or performance. Gots to say, i'm surprised and impressed.
