My Powerful Party Owns You + Ranting (Supreme Spoilers)

Post by Proteus »

Edwin has remained in the spotlight constantly in various BG2 discussions as a... unique and powerful NPC.

After siding with Bodhi and destroying the Shadow Thieves, I decided to hack Renal back, who was ironically delighted to talk despite me decapitating Linvail, and destroy Mae'Var as well then take the guild for myself. I went through lots of trouble but the main reason was just to get Edwin in my party without even dealing with nether scroll terms or complications.

Anyway, I've noticed that while giving him a mind of his own, he prefers to use his fist vs. more powerful creatures next to the Sling of Av. +4 and the Dragonbane +3. As illegal as it sounds, he usually dishes pretty decent damage with his lucky rolls, and is only rendered ineffective vs. golems or magically protected wizards, which he usually breaches beforehand anyway.

I'm a very magically-biased player, so I prefer craploads of heavy magic users in my party; and with spell50 installed, things can get pretty wild. My PC has ALWAYS been a Sorcerer... always... and I wouldn't have it any other way. If combining my wizard-manipulation with Edwin's presence isn't enough, I also have Sola, who I got just recently after all my party members topped off at around 2.8 million experience each in the Underdark. All of that and TDD installed, of course. The thing that pisses me off is that Bodhi, being the whore she is, kidnapped Sola because he owns her, and I didn't figure out how to revive him until AFTER I went into Hell after owning Irenicus 1v1 in Suldanessallar.

So now I have to hack my way to some temple, which I forget the name to, and revive Sola then hack my way back into Hell using the CLUA lame, but I still need to find area codes, which completely pisses me off because all this time I thought that damn Demin priest person would actually help me do this, but she's all like "reparations later, you help now". I'm not complaining though seeing I got 91,000xp for destroying Bodhi, more XP than any other creature in the game so far, including Shalangar or whatever that Lich's name is, he was easy anyway. She cried about it then ran to her coffin because she's a coward. I hate cowards.

Anyways, to top it off, I have two custom characters from MP creation, Nightmare (Drow Warrior) and Winter Storm (Priest of Auril), which I had accompany me simply because I liked their performance last run, but I'll have to get rid of them soon because I'll be starting ToB for the first time after Hell. Hell is fun. I also have Valen, who... well owns. She has her level 3 drain claws and double HP regnerative armor now so combine that with some decent equipment and she easily duet'd the Beholder Hive in the UD with me (I basically sat that invisible and watched while the other members stayed at entrance). She even charmed the Hive Mother, making her kill all the Beholders around us, and WE got the XP. Haha. Despite Valen's vampire-laming abilities, my PC still maintains 49% of the kills in the party, because, well, frankly Sorcerers own everything else. Period. If you disagree you are wrong.

Eventually, maybe next game I play, I will have all magic-users with maybe 1 or 2 combination classed characters... but only one of them will be custom, which means no Valen (cry) and Aerie gets to stay without fear of immediate boot after Chapter 2. I think it may be something like... me, sola, that mage guy I saw in the Docks I never tried out, Edwin, Kelsey, Aerie.

I have Kelsey installed, but only the ToB, and yes I want him in my party. I only put ToB in there as a reward to me finishing SoA and basically as an emblem for just starting ToB, which means someone needs the boot. But who? When I go through ToB, I want to keep Nightmare and WS... but at the same time I don't. I don't know. Advice would help at this point.

If you ask me, Adalon pretty much owns the most difficult monster slot, SoA wise. Irenicus is a joke in Suldanessellar, even with tactics and improved Irenicus installed. He just uses illegal triggers every 2 seconds and sits there. Most of them were completely ineffective because everyone in my party is insanely overpowered with resistances and kickass items. I can write a guide on defeating him "Spellstrike, Lower Resistance x5, and use your imagination from there". I mean it's just that simple. His illegal contingencies constantly shoot up, but they're minor enough to ignore because he's a lamer and stoneskin will not save him from level drain.

Funny thing is, in Hell, with all the tactics and mess installed, he actually brags about how he's been blessed with "magical virtuosity" and blah blah... he basically hacks permanent improved alacrity and dimension doors after every spell all over Hell like some lame fgt. On top of that, he summons the most powerful form of 5 difficult creatures in the game including the shadow dragon, some insanely overpowered Mordenkanin-Greed Sword Hybrid, and Sarevok. I quit in the middle of the battle though because I realized that I STILL DIDN'T HAVE SOLA REVIVED. And I was like WTF. So yeah...

...

So... You want a cookie? You certainly sound like you think you deserve one. Somebody get this man a cookie. Maybe next time you can hack your perfect ultra super powered party so that the game will be even less of a challenge for you. You'd really be awesome then. However, just as a welcoming piece of advice... Be aware that the powerful characters you're bragging about (Sola, Valen, etc...) were likely created by people who frequent this forum, and while I'm sure they're flattered that you like their work, you're about as likely to impress them with your "accomplishments" as I am to impress DELL with how fast the new computer I bought from them runs.

Wow. Add a couple numbers to the post, and we'd have a bonified 'l337 speaker' on our hands. Seriously. No character is better then another, as each have their benefits. For instance, a wizard slayer could probably take your sorceror with ease.

Oh well. To each their own, I suppose.

I don't like cookies plain... at least not often, but I love ice cream and it was cookies'n'cream, so I killed 2 birds with one stone on that one. Besides, cookies are overrated.

I'm always right about parties, there is one best party and that's mine. People say that there is a balance and many possibilities to having the best party, but these are just ideal parties that are good, and not best, for any given situation. As I've said, my party owns all of yours, Sorcerers own, and if you disagree you're wrong.

I really skimmed through the hater posts, and that's all I picked up on because it's late here on the eastern shore and I really don't care. :x

Err... an update, though. After strolling through Hell in SoA, Irenicus does pull some completely lame BS: he casts every protection spell in the game on himself practically and then teleports every 4 seconds including when he's hit even for the smallest damage. Solution? Backstab.

I just sat around while he was teleporting around, my party members enjoying the atmosphere, then he just walked right into Valen, who so happened to be invisible... she attacked him instinctively as he walked by her, it counted as both a backstab and a critical hit, resulting in 229 damage (@#$@#%!!!!). I snapped that one for the future archives. Ahh... memories.

Now I'm in the beginning part of ToB, which is insanely easy with my, yet again, perfect party that owns all others. The hardest Bhaalspawn yet was the VERY FIRST ONE at the beginning. Sendai was a complete joke. I think the only reason people cry about her is because their parties suck compared to mine, and because he lames with statues and drow summons to cover up the fact that she secretly sucks.

@Proteus, we're getting complaints about your posts in this thread, and it's clear to see why. Your manner is insulting to other forum members, you don't back up your statements, and you don't add any content to the forum. I'm closing this thread. If you've got something genuinely useful to contribute, be my guest and start up a second thread. If it's just going to be another I Rule/U SUK thing, though, don't bother. It's been done before, many times on many boards, and it's always boring.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
