NWNgold Mutamins challenge 3

In chapter 2, Mutamins challenge 3, I cannot place the desired item in the chest. I believe that I have cleared all 3 levels and aquired all of the items I need. I have been able to use Murrocks forge.
Help Please

In one of the rooms there is a chest with a crystal egg in it. Thats the one item the guardian wants.

mutamins challenge

I have that item, I can't seem to place in the chest. I have tried dropping it , using the chest and there is no use in the item radial. It just won't go into the chest.

or maybe u have to kill the lich/spellcaster "boss" first...
