you might be right in that matter... (i would like to hear all other things...)
but it could also be so you would have idea where you are... so if you have played earlier games or read forgotten realms books you will have idea of world surrounding you...
even it is pity that you cant go to easthaven....(i like that little town...)

It is annoying, but I suppose it helps to add to the realism of the game. If you know, and are reminded that there is in fact a world outside of the places you can visit, it makes the game world that much more realistic. I'm currently making a film set in a World akin to Forgotten Realms, not based on but the same sort of thing, and have found that the more minor details, like just mentioning that one of the characters grew up in .....(insert town name here) and then having that place marked on a World Map later, despite it having no real relelvance to the plot adds dramatically to the realism, it allows you to get lost in the fantasy.
Howe'er, it would have been nice to actually visit these places, maybe after you've completed the game or something, as not to detract from the plot line.

Ne'er insult an Elf, lest you get perforated.
