Bg3?
Since theres no blackisle anymore im kinda disappointed theres no BG3. Do u think we couldve imported characters to it if it was made into a game. I hate the people who decided to close black isle-may they rot in the abyss.

Icewind dale 3... gee wouldnt that be fun *slits wrists*.
As for BG3, why ruin it? Sequals tend to screw things up, i mean look at that crap "baldurs gate: dark alliance" they made. I mean why bother ruining a well respected series of games like that?
Bg1 had a decent story line, ToSC was just a money maker, but since it was cheap i didnt mind paying for it too much. Bg2 was just amazing, enough subquests and things to keep you interested all day long. ToB ... well i didnt really like it all that much, it felt a little like IWD, killing more then thinking (i mean look at WK, couldnt resist the urge to add in another demi-lich, and that crappy wild magic zone, very very gimicky).
A company ive allways liked has been bullfrog, id really like to see what they could do with the infinity engine.

IE in bullfrogs hands. That could be legendary. I never thought of it. Oh, the randomness of dungeon keeper humour meets the randomness of jan. Oh, the possibilities!

Every quest would have a timer, and you'd have to deal manually with feeding each party NPC within ten seconds of a squawk or their morale would drop and they'd leave. Wouldn't be worth it.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Bear in mind Peter Moleneux (the bullfrog guy) started / is a lead member of lionhead studios, think black & white. Reason he claimed he made the interface the way it was was due to things like dungeon keeper (that im at this very moment trying to get to run on my comp with very little luck =( keeps crashing) with massive ammounts of buttons... and FEEDING? did you ever play black and white? I traumatized my polar bear (ironically named fluffy due to a bad inncodent with a rockslide and a few fireball spells) into massive overeating, he was very very capable of feeding himself without me interactig with him.
Pssht i say, ive actually loved all of peter moleneux's games that ive played, besides, could they possibly do worst then IWD?

@Galmar, I wasn't referring obliquely to any specific Bullfrog game, but the general tendency in their past games to create annoying, braindead "make work" for the player. As in Theme Hospital, where you're supposed to be in charge of research, buying and placing equipment, hiring and firing staff--but still must pick up each janitor and move him to the spot where a sick person has upchucked his guts, because the idiot can't find the spot on his own. (And of course, everything you do, including looking at profit and loss statements, takes time on the clock, which is ticking against success.) I'd much sooner turn to a developer who has interesting ideas about RPGs and doesn't put such obvious hurdles in front of players to make a game "tough," like Chris Crawford. Of course, Chris is out of game development, now; but who's fault is that?

I'm just curious what you mean by that. I thought that IWD2 was a great game if you consider all of the things that went into it, but it left me feeling exhausted and numb because I thought it would never end, and I too would approach an "IWD3" with a bit of apprehension.Originally posted by Galmar

I loved theme hospitol as well though =p and the janitor thing, i cant recall if you could assign them patrol routes back in TH, but i know you could in the later theme park. But i think ive missed the point in what you were saying.
Oh IWD3... IwD series will now in my mind be forever blemished by the crap that is Icewind Dale 1. It was one of these zero plot (save the world is a plot?) type things that was 95% slashy hitty smashy stuff. I mean it was more like excercising the infinity engine, it made no real sence, too much action, no plot... thats ok if its a first person shooter, but its the infinity engine.. hardly the most thrill inspiring fast paced graphically amazing thing in the world.
IwD seems like a lazy mod for BG1, its just so boring, all it is is BG with most of the dialog taken out, and just more enemies / dungeon areas.

I know this is a BG2 forum, but you had dials on the janitors profile to instruct him to deal with vomit, plants, maintenance or rubbish. on the clock front, pressing 1 would slow the time to immensely slowness. (BAD grammar there)
I think feeding and (some timers) would be very good. I spent 3 months between bodhis quests (TDD), which, when you think about it, completely obliterates the roleplay we are trying to preserve.

I dont agree too much with timers in that respect, i mean look at fallout, a great game but sadly that 150 day water chip thing meant that there was no possible way you could do all the subquests PRE-CHIP (not even with the water merchant subquest).
Bg2 has a ton of stuff to do outside of the main plot, as did BG1 (well when you actually gained entrance to the city itself). Putting a time limit would screw it up a little. Allthough it would have been nice for time to have been taken into considerations by general NPCs, commenting on the day and time ect. Maybe a few weeks of the year it snowed, and you could do things like use delayed blast fireball on kid's snowmen ... and things like that.

BG3!
What they (someone) really needs to do is make BG3, or remake the entire BG series based on the Knights of the old republic engine.
That would be so awesome. BG has always had the best storyline, quests and freedom of choice with a whole world feel.
Knights really brought out the atmosphere of dealing with NPC characters, and I think its engine would be a massive credit to a D&D style rpg (eg fantasy medieval theme).
