Just a question concerning Henchmen and Portals

Post by lerrisalren »

Hey there....I just had something strange happen to Tomi in the Haunted Forest. When I answered the Pillars riddle and opened the portal to the Crypt entrance...I walked through, but Tomi stayed behind and no matter how many times I tried, he never came across on the portal with me. Has this happened to anyone else?

The way I got around it was, (luckily I saved just before entering the portal the first time), to transport back to the Temple of Tyr in Llast, leave Tomi there, then take the portal across to the Crypt Entrance, teleport back to the temple and get Tomi.

try saving and loading, that usually teleports the henchmen to you.

The pathfinding in NwN is really bad, so using tricks like Stone of Recall and save/load is usually best and fastes way.

Not to be AR but your statement bears repeating:

I have had my henchman get stuck in a row of bookshelves where I had to walk to one side to draw him out and then walk around the other side. This has happened to the familiar as well but I can simply possess it and walk it around manually.

And I thought that the pathfinding in Troika's The Temple Of Elemental Evil was bad…
It may be better to be a live jackal than a dead lion but it is better still to be a live lion - and usually easier.

well, with stuck henchmen, it is still possible to run far away enough to get them 'ported to you...

once, i tried bashing a chest located at the corner of a room, and my char went between the wall and the chest. then, "weapon ineffective" poped up and my character just stood there... i cannot move because of the collision with the chest and with the wall in the other direction. i was pretty stuck!! i finally managed to club my way outta there.. but that experience was not a nice one...
