Ideal Ligthsider?

Post by Kool69 »

Once again i am posting a question about stats, skills and powers and atrributes or a melee lightsider. I intend to go Dual sabers Scout 5 Sentinel 15. I will have a total of 1o feats, 16 powers, and 54 skill points w/o attribute mods to work with by lvl 20.
I used to hate going to weddings because the old people would always say,"You Next! You Next!" Now I go to funerals and tell them the same thing.

I dont think this is something anyone can awnser for you.
It's all up to you, and what partymembers you want to take with you.

Some prefere computer use over repair, some the other way.
My only advice would be to take persuade, adn the skills and feats you like best.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Gods, it sounds you're preparing a spreadsheet or a profit & loss statement, rather than playing a game. No offense meant. :)

Lol, no offense taken fable, just ive had bad character planning experiences in the past. (D2 Lod) i guess i was just thinking the difficulty of KoTOR would match up to it.... *sigh* it just kinda sux when uve sent several hours+ of game time (which i dont have alot of) to find out your character cant survive a hit from some of the enemies later in the game. Oh and just wondering ummm what is the colour of starforge robes? white?

my ideal lightsaber combo would be (without cheating)
Two One-Handed Lightsabers.

1) Mantle of the Force: Solari Crystal; Upari Crystal Lightside Only

2)Heart of the Guardian: Firrkrraan (Spellin g?) Crystal; Damind Crystal or Krayt Dragon Crystal Can Power Through Driods[i/]

But those are just my suggestions, if you dont want the driod destroyer than the Crystals For #2 would be:
HotG: Damind or Krayt Dragon Pearl; Opila Crystal.
Soon more stuff will come here, but I guess I will just put one of my favortie websites (besides Game Banshee)
here
{Its Homestar Runner}

Er, no. :)

Back to your original question:

1) Forget skills. There's no good reason to create a character with high skills. You can always bring someone like Mission with you, and she has superb skills. So...go with a soldier.

2) When you become a jedi, select the kind you want to play based on the kind of character you prefer to play. I last played a soldier/consular, and found he was perfect for both powers behind the front lines, and taking part in the melee action (especially after I'd given him Toughness).

3) If you decide to go for a disabling power, be sure you see it through all the way, and get the power-ups later on. Some of those three-tier powers are extremely useful when they hit an entire group for damage, and/or put many of the enemy temporarily out of commission.

4) Choose your party wisely. If you're inside a structure on a mission, take along Mission. ;) Alternatively, have a jedi along who can Cure and Heal damage from mines, if Mission's not in your party. During midgames, I prefered Canderous and Mission, or Canderous and Bastila. Later, I had a three-jedi party. I made sure that my accompanying jedi specialized in different skills, so that they could deal with different situations.

5) Work up Treat Injury on yourself and all followers--I ended up with 10 or so for each party member. That way, they can really heal a lot of points from the inventory screen, one use per turn. This lets your jedi concentrate on killing enemies, rather than invoking their Cure/Heal powers in battle.

6) Experiment with different lightsaber crystal combos to find the ones you like best. Keep several lightsabers handy for different situations--one for just dealing with droids, for example. Remember, you can switch off weapons during battle. You just can't switch out armor (because nobody wants to see you in your shorts).

Hope that helps. :)

Gosh, I didn't want to delay my character growth, and now I regret it. My level 11 scout/consular (9 scout :( /2 consular) is now feeling... ineadequate... Kinda like going to the beach and seeing body builders get all the chicks (like that ever happens).

Wow, it's not many people who manage to get 9 levels before leaving Taris :D

I would agree totally with fable, skills are useless apart from Persuade and Treat Injury, it can be useful to have some Repair for HK-47's sake, but once you get to a certain point in the game it doesn't matter anymore ;) Otherwise, use other characters/walk straight through mines to do what you have to. I used Jolee as my disarmer/hacker when necessary, I stuck one point into each skill and then used Visors to increase them as necessary, though that wasn't even required.

My ideal is a Scout 5/Guardian 15, with a scout you get 1 less feat, but that is more than compensated for by getting Uncanny Dodge and Implant 1 & 2 (which I would pick up anyway). I always play my characters heavily melee-oriented, so I go with 18 STR 12 DEX 16 CON and leave the others at base, and then pump STR for the rest of the game :D Maxing Two-Weapon Fighting and Critical Strike completes my juggernaut, with which it is completely possible to take out any foe in the game by the end in one attack. Mmmm, powergaming :D

Nonsense. :) You can still easily win the game. Just choose your powers wisely.

No sweat - my first character was 8 Scout before becomming a Jedi, and he was as hard as most else, I've played in the game, and had little difficulties in the game with most enemies.

Is it not just the one that's on his corpse? IIRC it's not named or anything though...

My first lightsider was 8 soldier/12 guardian, and he was the hardest mutha you ever wanna meet :D Master Speed and an occasional Heal were the only Force Powers he ever used, really - as has always been the case in D&D-based games, melee nearly always beats ranged or magic in a fight.

Maybe sometimes.
But melee doesn't beat insanity + affliction + force whirlwind +lightnin' + kill until you die.

Actually if you get Bandon's lightsaber on Manaan as the last star map before leviathan, it's different. It'll show up as an independent double bladed red saber. And crystals are slightly different.
instead of 25% chance stun, for example, there is 100% chance stun.

Sure it does. In the time it takes to cast all that crap, you could've already hacked everything to bits with your saber. The best build I've put together for this purpose was, by the end of the game, capable of inflicting 120-340 (that's 230 on average) damage per round. That's with two force powers cast, and one of those a party-effect. And I reckon a critical strike build could probably do better.

I don't think I'd be willing to agree that melee is superior in most other D&D-based games, though...

Oh, and the glitch with Bandon's saber doesn't exist in the PC version.

Bugger. Was wondering why I hadn't heard of it ;)

And yes, my critical strike build (using sabers with Opila or Nextor for even more crits) probably does the same if not more damage than that in a round and I was maxing WIS not STR with him :D

You're not wrong there, plus it would really mess up my character if I had to use a double-bladed saber :D
