*****Unlimmited Common & Lesser Soul Gems*****

Post by FRAGZILLA »

I dicovered this one quite by accident while exploring a tomb. I had just dispatched 2 Bone Lords and a Skeleton Champion and raided their loot. As you may know Bone Lords often leave a Common or Lesser Soul Gem in their remains. Make sure you take them then 'dispose of corpse' and leave the tomb. Immediately reenter and the baddies will have respawned. The composition of the baddies will change every time you respawn (ie: sometimes you'll get all Skeleton Champions and no Bone Lords and other times you'll get all bone lords and everywhere in between.)

Anyway, to get unlimited Common and Lesser Soul Gems 1) Enter tomb and kill all baddies, 2) Snatch sould gems and 'dispose of corpses', 3) leave tomb and re-enter 4) Rinse and repeat untill you have the number of gems you desire. Note: Sometimes Bone Lords will not leave a gem so many rinse cycles may be necessary. I did it 10 times and got 7 common and 9 lesser gems in about 15 min.

Now the Lesser Gems are not that important if you belong to the mages guild as they give several to you in the 'supply chest' for free after each completed quest. You just need to teleport to each Guild and raid their supply chests. But the Common Gems are harder to come by so stock up now then go out on a soul capturing safari.

Another note... Bone Lords not only leave a Common Soul Gem but also fit nicely inside one with a value of 4K! So you can also make unlimited drakes by killing them, taking the gems, then trapping their souls inside the gems they provided the next time around! Be carefull not to carry Grand Sould Gems with you and accidentally trap a Skeleton Champion as they 'waste' the gem only being worth 40K when Golden Saints are worth twice as much at 80K -- save the Grand Gems for the Golden Saints.

Actually, there is a reason to capture lesser soulgems with souls. When you create constant effect-items, you often have to pay LOADS of cash to whomever does it (I tried to do it myself, but I can't find anyone to teach me up to 100 in Enchant, and any less seems useless for enchanting the heavier stuff). Now, if you can barter immediately after, you can sell them daedric weapons, soul gems and such to get your hard-earned cash back. This way you don't have to lose money when enchanting stuff, but get rid of expensive items (such as filled gems) that are otherwise hard to sell for full price. It works most of the time, anyways.

There's a trader in Tel Branora which has unlimited stock of Common, Lesser and Petty Soul Gems. Bonewalkers and Bonenlords do have gems in loot often, altogether the ratio is slowly going down with the raise of your level, at least in quality.
Regarding Grand gems, my source usually is the smuggler caves. You have to be at certain level, though, so i'm starting raiding them only at level 20 (in any case not lower 18). So i have them enough to coveer all my enchanting needs and usully even 20-30 i cannot find the use for, even after enchanting my Daedric weaponry (and i usually am carrying four pieces of specialized weapon, not counting a bow). I do hunt for souls to keep my stores full with common, lesser and petty gems - the recharging is the best way to develop Enchant skill in the begining (i'm never using teachers to learn the skill, only recharging) and to avoid the endless sleeping to get my arsenal recharged.

If you have the Tribunal add-on, you can actually buy an unlimited supply of grand soulies from the enchanter in the craftsmans' hall, on the second floor. He has five at a time, and they respawn. When I Offed Dagoth Ur I had over twenty soulies with ascended sleepers. Unused. ;)
