Odd encounter in the sewers.

Post by bootlegcorndogs »

I was just wandering through the sewers under the temple district earlier, near where you kill the sea troll for Roger, and suddenly the familiar five-pointed purple glowing dimension-door sparkly thingie appears. So I thought "Well, that's kind of odd." and waited for a cowled wizard or something to pop out so The Man could start hassling me, in spite of the fact that I've never seen them in the sewers before and that there was no reason for them to be there, but instead an elder orb beholder and two gauths come out of it and open fire on my group. I killed them without much trouble, but I'm left wondering why the hell that happened. I didn't know of any such encounter in the sewers. Any ideas?

Beats me. Probably close to max at the time, which was probably around 23. I know the generic uglies get tougher as you gain levels, but I didn't know they'd actually teleport in to my location for a random battle.

The game changes the type of monters acording to your level, so its very likely to see a lich in the ghoul city now.

I know this is off topic, but Drak, you can't beat Zero Wing for great quotes...

Somebody set up us the bomb! (snicker)

I'm still shocked at how rapidly that became a fad. I remembered playing the game on emulator way back before it was cool, and being amused by the translation but not thinking anything else of it. Then all of a sudden it's everywhere. Cats rules.
