Cernd mod?
Cernd mod?
I was reading the thread started by Adahn about a possible Valygar Romance Mod. It made me think about Cernd because he's even more boring. I can't seem to find any mods that make Cernd any more interesting. Does anyone know about a Cernd mod? Or is Cernd really a lost cause and officially the dullest npc in all of Faerun?
EDIT: Come to think of it, does anyone actually like this guy? Come on Cernd fans, this is your chance to speak up!

She says: Lou, it's the Beginning of a Great Adventure
The only mod I know of that extends Cernd is the Banter Packs.
You are better off asking jcompton about that though

Have you ever heard any more inspiring or logical words? I sure haven't.

I played Cernd, he is not boring, but he is not so good. Never tried to dual him to anything, this may save him as combat option. As Werewolf he is better, the only thing I hate bout him is that he cant use any armour. But I finished the game with him on the party once, he was rocking cause he gets the Druids hlspels sooner than Jaheira and his Greater werewolf shapeshifts are better that black bear.
Average. But still the worst NPC on BG2. On BG series I think that it will be that ranger you meet by the Thalantyr hut.

No way, Kivan rocks
Worst NPC in BG is IMO Quayle, closely followed by Alora.
There are three kinds of people that no one understands: geniuses, madmen and guys that mumble.

Kivan indeed rocks! (though that counts for Archers in general anyway )
There are 2 Mod's in progress of our mourning ranger and I cant wait till they come out.

The Banter Pack mod at Forgotten Wars adds a few more lines to Cernd's repetoire (as well as the other NPCs, including Lilarcor).

I used to like Quaile. He was a good spellcaster, but he couldnt go too long in xp cause of his two classes, that's what make him not the best choice, but the worst, I have to disagree.
Alora is bad.
I dont like mr 'Yesss sir', that bard you find along with Silke... Garrick I think. I dont like him at all. And that Ranger is still the worst for me...

Makes a Greater Wherewolf a bit too powerful IMO. They made the claws the same way as with Valens'.
Cheesyness trump when the claws can be used an infinit amount of time.

Not to mention Cernd has the worst stats even, i mean, he can't do anything right! Hehe. But it could be worst, imagine finding a Jan romance mod lol!
You could argue that he has the best stats of all the npc's.
Str 21
Dex 20
Con 25
Int 12
Wis 18
Cha 15
Who beats that? Cernd is okay it is the shapeshifter kit that is buggy.
The shapeshifter rebalancing mod is not so balancing but rather cool.
I think Anomen has the worst stats of all the npc. Main attribute 12? He shouldn't even have been able to dual. However he dualed at the best possible time but had a blackout when selecting proficiency slots.
You can't handle the truth!

human druids can dual to fighter but, i don't think cernd has the base stats for it...
sytze, sure the shapeshifter rebalancing is utterly cheesy...
so i made jaheira into a shapeshifter kensai...

But, nobody here is, like, saying: "Cernd? What a swell guy! He has an nice, even sparkling, personality! Or a sense of humor! Or something, anything in his character that comes even remotely close to being... interesting!"?
i once wrote the second part to a fanfic where he managed to induce himself into a coma...and was the more interesting for it...
i even parodied "nowhere man" to describe him...

If I had the time and technical ability I would be interested in writing a Cernd mod. IMO he is one of those dull NPCs that could have significant potential. His background story could have been far better developed, as could have been his resulting character.
How about the committed druid who gave way to more physical earthly needs and then paid the price? A great deal could be done with such a premise.
I don't think it would be a great idea to get into a lot of guilt and self-loathing (no need to replicate Anomen), but more an acknowledgement and coming to terms with the person he is, and perhaps a subsequent increase in stats. I think it would also be interesting to include a lot more debate on some of those issues with other party members... Keldorn comes to mind on this score...
I'm just ad libbing here, I haven't actually thought any of this through. So feel free to hurl flame throwers my way
