How to deal with dragons??

Post by jace4ever »

Greetings BG2 players, do u all have any idea on how to deal with dragons, particularly Firkragg the Red Dragon.
His first red dragon breath WIPED out half my party at one go while his super strong and fast attacks killed off the rest who are still standing.
Is there another better way to deal with him as well as all the other dragons apart from using traps and the fake talk strategy??
Do reply soon

I already said this to someone a while ago, so I'll just copy it and say it to you too:

Just a thought: are you gonna put every little thing you think in a different thread? You can also put that together in one big thread. It's easier for us to read, and it wouldn't give me the impression that you're trying to get a high number of posts.

But again, just a thought...

About the dragons, here's a very good strategy:
Be at a high level.
It's very efficient.

Basically, just scatter your party and have a lot of healing potions ready. As long as he can't hit your entire party at a time, you'll be able to disrupt his Heals. Before the fight, use some combat improvements, such as Bless, Chant, Haste, Berserk, Kai etc...
There are some other tactics, e.g. casting Magic Resistance on him, than Lower Resistance a few times, and than hit him with all magic you've got. I prefer to hit him with your weapons, it's just cooler if he dies like that.

A few tactics:
for all of these you need to be around 13th level at least.
I. 1.Cast Magic Resistance
2.Cast Lower Resistance
3.Cast Doom with all your people that know priest spells
4.Have a 12th level mage Cast Chromatic Orb, (12th level the fail against save is death)

II.1.Have a 13th level monk cast Quivering Palm and Attack! (I know unless your a monk this option is bye bye

III.1.Have Yoshimo or other Trap Setter cast traps on his feet, and sleep, trap, sleep, until you have about 12 traps. then attack him and watch the traps set off.

IV. Stand just outside his seeing range and cast Deathfogs and Cloudkills at him (you need 6-8 cloudkills if doing it with just them)so 2 mages work good.

HOPE THEY HELP YA

Red dragon isnt that hard, i usually like t hack n slash, but a good thing is the aerial servants, at times they did 47 damage.

Killed him with a level 10 party without a magician, now THATS hard, but wanted the sword before underdark (although PC was cavalier)

You don't need no mage to kick Firkraag's @$$. As a matter of fact, if you try to kill him without the Magic Resistance tactic, it's better to replace your mage by a warrior to deal out some damage.
