Am I the only one who collects comics every wens?

I mean is any one else here in on Secret war? Wanted? Ultimates...

I do, but not as badly as my brother, I am into comics but not as bad as he does who buys some every week, I mainly read them for the stories.

Sure I know the ultimates, I like the CrossGen Universe better(really like Sigil, Negation(both of these mainly because of the science fictiony atmosphere)) and Route 666((mainly because of its sorta horrish humor macabe atmosphere), but Spiderman(with J. Michael Strasinski), all the ultimate versions of Marvel, and the New X-men are all some of my favorite reads. Plus the Incredible Hulk sometimes, and if J. Michael Stasinki ever gets it done the Rising Stars series.

My brother is a comic finatic, but I participate enough to know what a problem it is, especially when I have to help carry the metal drawers full of comics and store them in a storage shed, darn those things can get heavy.

Ah the travails of comic book collection.

Just finished "Arkham Asylum - Living Hell" hard cover. Cool book.

Crossgen is ok, never got much into it. Except for this new book they got... the covers Jesus being Crucified with a shirt on that says "Frankie say relax".

The ultimate Xmen is a new fav for me. You guys ever pick up a dreamwave productions book? Warlands? Gi Joe/Transformers... Transformers... Shidima... I really like Pat lee...

Ultimate spiderman isn't what I would call a new fav... its alright but they make venom lame imo.

1602 rocks.
I dropped Ultimate Xmen around issue #32, the arc which has wolverine goes solo and meets with spiderman.etc.
New Xmen is good, with Marc Silvestri is even better.
I liked DW's Transformers, later the color got too flashy for my eyes.(or it's always flashy)

I used to collect comics, but stopped for many reasons. I own every single Uncanny X-Men from numero uno to 325. Then they messed up the entire thing, and I quit. I have every Witchblade from 1 to 50, but that got old fast. I think the general direction comics took in the mid 90s was tiresome to the extreme. You had to go underground to find something good, and the moment it got popular it got gutted by the big corps. Now I'm collecting books instead.

I have found that my regular readings have shrunk dramatically over the years. Mostly because of the exact reasons Moonbiter stopped. I only do a handful now on Wednesdays.

Usagi Yojimbo- yeah I know, keep the furry jokes to yourselves. This book has been consistantly good month after month for years.

2000 AD- One of the best comics I have ever read. If you don't know, its a Brit weekly that does mostly serialized comics. Its also the home of Judge Dredd. You can get it in America via Previews (the Diamond catalog), though it is common to miss a few issues every year.

Astro City- Awesome takes on super heroes.

Top 10- So sorry to see it go. Hopefully Moore will come to his senses and keep it going. The Smax series is not so bad, but pales in comparision.

P. Craig Russell's various adaptations- Usually very honest to the originals with artwork that captures what is going on.

I have been getting more into the "Graphic Novel" thing. If you like Joe Kubert's work, you should really consider checking out "Yossel." It blew me away. There is nothing to compare it to. Simply awesome. The life work of a Master. Should be required reading for anyone who works in comics.

Also anything by Will Eisner. After all, the Eisner awards are named after him for a reason.

It's pretty hard to get comics in their original versions where I live, and they're very expensive, so I'm catching up on older stuff (but not only) that gets printed in my language. The upside is that 90% of it is printed in collected editions (4-6 issues).

My favorites right now, in no particular order, are: Usagi Yojimbo, 100 Bullets, The Sandman, Preacher, Hellboy, Sin City, Watchmen, League of the Extraordinary Gentlemen (so much better than the crappy movie). As far as mini-series/one-shots are concerned, some Batman books (Year One, The Dark Knight Retuns), Wolverine (by Chris Claremont/Frank Miller) and Neil Gaiman's Murder Mysteries are among my favorites. Truly some of the greatest. Some good stuff is coming soon; I'm especially awaiting The Path, Batman: Hush, Bone, 1602 and Daredevil: Guardian Devil (by Kevin Smith).

I'm not into comics, but when I was teen, I was. (Yes, they had the printing press, back then.) Used to buy DC comics, and the occasional Marvel. My mother hated them, and--typically, for her--was very abusive about the whole thing.

Amusingly enough, about eight years ago we priced my father's large but poor stamp/coin collection, which was hardly worth anything. But my comics, which cost 12 cents per issue, easily got us $400--and probably would have gotten more, if I'd bothered to sale 'em at some convention. (We weren't interested.)

Moral: don't give up on comics, O youth of today.

Funny thing, that. My little snot brother, who's a bit of a financial wiz and heavily into the coin/stamp thingy, used to diss me seriously because I collected comics. Then, a couple of years ago, he suddenly figured out that my collection is an entire retirement plan all by it self! I never thought of that. Honestly.

I used to read comics a lot when I was a kid, and took over a collection of my uncle's (since he had no interest in them anymore and wasn't taking care of them) that included some very rare books dating back to the early 40s. They don't grade all that high, but some of the original Action Comics and Batman books make the collection worth looking at =).

I don't have time for reading comics anymore, but I still maintain my original collection and even buy some modern key issues on eBay when they are available at a reasonable price. Every issue I have now has been sent to the CGC to be slabbed in one of their fancy cases, so I can't read them even if I want to...

I am a full blown addict spending somewhere between 20 to 30 bucks a week on comics. Mostly my love Marvel but I always pick up all different types.

My plan is to give them to my kid considering how many I have now... so I'll collect and just have something.. I dont know.. .its an addiction.
