Learn To Read

Post by Taco Magus »

Very early on in the game i noticed that i had 70% science skills. I also noticed that i had used alot of the gun magazines that i couldnt learn anything new from. Now what if i decided to get comprehinsion on the 1st perk. I think i could get realtivly high skills w/o putting many points small guns or science. has anyone esle noticed/tried this before?

there is a down fall however....books wont fill the skills over 80% or so (atleast as i noticed).the information screen says u learned nothing new....so comprehension can generaly only help u build up faster to that precentage.

I think my small guns was 90% something when books stopped working. even if u avoid putting points into it untill 90% (or 80%) would be an advantage instead of just selling the extra books

Books stop working at 90-91% in the skills they affect (first aid, repair, science, small guns, pioneer, etc.). After 90 pts in any skill I think it takes 2 bonus points to raise the skill by 1 (maybe its after 100 points though, I'm not positive). So I just make myself stupid temporarily. The right mix of drugs (buffout, etc) will lower your INT for awhile. When that happens you will notice that your skill proficiencies have dropped a few points as well. If they drop below 90 you can now read the books and get the points for them. When the stupidity wears off and your INT returns to normal you will have commensurately higher proficiency levels in those skills. Sweet.

buffouts are to expensive :P use booze and turn the switch on to hardest gameplay all skills drop so u can even use more :P

also never tag perks that can be raised by books(the books weren't placed in the game for nothing are they?)
