Pacifism!
I've always enjoyed the more civilised approach to Morrowind. In my time I've beaten the game as a female Bosmer skilled in Archery, a male Redguard with Long Blade, Block, Heavy Armour and Armour - what else did I need? I've done it as a Nord wielding an axe, I've been a Dunmer Soccerer, and a Kajit Theif (that was hard).
By far the most enjoyable however was the time I was a Breton or an Imperial - I forget, with a silver tounge (high speechcraft), skilled thief and sneak, with very good illusion, alchemy and Restoration. I was all right with short blades, and though it posed a few problems on Solstheim, I managed it. The healing spells are very rewarding as is working for the Imperial Cult, I've said it before, I'll say it again, you feel like a genuine saviour if you're doing that. I've played characters where I killed a commoner for thier house. I mean come on? How much like Nerevar is that?
Play a nice guy, a clever thoughtful guy. Be a Monk, a Bard or a healer. I also enjoy Necromancers, Battlemages, and Nightblades. Sorcerrors (I can't spell) are the best of the battle magic classes I feel.
I have yet to play through the game all the way as an Altmer, and that will be next.
If you can have a role model for your character, you will also be helped. I built my current characters (see below) on Gandalf and Aragorn. The wizard has high intelligence, wields blunt weapons, a smooth talker, good with healing, but packs a fearsome punch with his destructive magic. The knight has vast health and is a brilliant swordsman.
Pick something unusual and stick with it. Thats the best way.
